dave.helm
Greetings everyone. I just found the forums and hopefully this is in the right spot. Are there any civilian or police crime scene units out there using the TC as a crime scene vehicle? I noticed it on the road a few months back and believe it to be well suited as a secondary vehicle for this purpose. I am currently putting a few bits of information together and may make a purposal next year for this vehicle. I sat in one the other day and did not find the seats to accomodate a taller person very well. I would also like to see the TC come with only 1 sliding door instead of 2. Thanks, Dave

Thanks, Dave Welcome to the boards. Funny you should mention that. There is a co-operative Govt. bid that is coming out for ambulances and special service vehicles. We are already on the contreact with many purpose built units such as SWAT, mobile command centers, light rescues units, etc. We are working with a local body builder to have 3 distinct vehicles included in the next contract on the Transit Connect chassis; an Accident Investigative Unit, A Transit Triage Unit , and a CSI Unit. I see. Very nice. As a unit we decided against the Dodge Sprint as it is too tall and cannot fit into parking decks. We use an F-350 Van, which is one of the best overall CSI units you could want. One sliding door, and the shelves ONLY on one side for other items, like haz-mat gear bags, and tools, i.e. sledge hammers and saw-zalls. The lack of windows on some of the TC models is great for security reasons when parked and the partition between the front and rear areas. One thing to remember is inverters for plugging in lights and other items at scenes. I would be interested in seeing how this pans out with your contractor. Are you advising your area has a " co-operative Govt. bid"? Please explain that for me. One last thing is the TC available with only one sliding door? Daver The TC is only available with dual sliding doors. In Houston there is a cooperative called the HGAC which is active in 40 states for government and non profit agencies for buying everything from pencils to vehicles. I am the contractor foe quite a few different vehicles on the various contracts from F150's to Econoline's to wildfore brush trucks and airport quick response crash trucks. The ambulance and special service vehicle contract is coming up for renewal and we are adding the TC as several specialty units.

Tell me more. I also wonder about inverter and charging stations that could be added. Have you seen this? D

There is a fee added on any vehicle purchase. The nice thing about it is that the bidding process has already beed done so it satisfies the bid requiremt in most jurisdictions. you can google search H-GAC and find their website for more information. They currently have members in 40 states. We can add any type of inverter that you would require.
