Transit Connect Guide
Ford to show its family plan for Transit van Ford plans to unveil a family friendly concept version of its upcoming 2010 Transit Connect small van at the New York auto show next week. Advertisement Ford developed the Transit Connect for use as a small delivery vehicle for businesses, but the Family One concept shows the roomy little vehicle can become a playpen on wheels. The body, essentially a scaled-down UPS van built on a compact car's platform, provides plenty of space for play and kid-friendly amenities. The base version of the Transit Connect will come with a stripped interior and a $21,475 price tag when it goes on sale this summer. Powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, the Transit Connect should get EPA ratings of 22 m.p.g. in the city and 25 m.p.g. on the highway. CLICK HERE TO READ MORE. Scot T.
Ford, all I can say is build this thing. It's the most practical small minivan I've seen yet. Our kids are grown, but the wife does a lot of hauling furniture for her hobby, so the tall roof would be perfect for our needs. I come from a Ford family, my dad was in assembly at the St. Paul Ranger plant, so I'm biased, but my wife is not. She hated the Freestar, and we ended up with a big 2004 Nissan Quest. It's a tank, but admittedly does quite well in the fuel economy department, 28mpg straight highway on an ideal day doing 60-65mph tops. Anyways, my wife hadn't been excited about Ford for many years, until she saw the Flex concept a couple of years ago, (too bad the suicide doors went away, those really set it apart). Then when we saw the Transit, right away we thought it would be perfect if built for a family. One thing I'd like to suggest would be to work on the fuel economy, perhaps thru EcoBoost, hybrid, and especially diesel. it's almost as though there is collusion amongst the refiners to keep diesel fuel costs up in order to drive the automakers away from diesel availability like Europe has, but the efficiency seems to be there to overcome the added engine costs. dgull0218
This is one ugly@ss vehicle. I have to assume Ford isn't expecting big sales with this creature. This should be fleet only. C'mon Ford, I had hoped they learned their lesson with the Wrecks, uh, I mean Flex.

C'mon Ford, I had hoped they learned their lesson with the Wrecks, uh, I mean Flex. It's not an ugly vehicle. Plus, the utility of the high roof makes it far outweigh any other minivan. I'd bet the family version would do quite well, better than the Freestar, obviously, especially when you include fleet volume.

C'mon Ford, I had hoped they learned their lesson with the Wrecks, uh, I mean Flex. What difference would it make if they made the Transit Connect "fleet only"? Just because you may not be able to appreciate it, why should that be reason enough that no other individual should be able to purchase it? The fact is that it's so affordable and versatile, especially with the many build-out options already designed for the T/C, it's without a practical rival and will undoubtedly be the ideal vehicle for many businesses and individuals alike. It's such a compelling value and so versatile that I am considering it over a fully-loaded Flex Limited AWD. Even so, if I didn't find the T/C such a good idea, I wouldn't begin to think that's enough reason that nobody else should too.

I personnally would like to purchase one as a daily driver and motorcycle hauler. I have conversed with some owners in the UK and you can haul a motrocycle in one, but you have to fold the passenger seat forward. I have owned a few vans over the years and the T/C makes sense to me and the role that it would play in addressing my four wheeled needs. One of the most common questions is "does it come with more seats?" since mine is a two seater. When they hear the price and see inside they always leave with a smile. InTransit
My retired father in law saw my TC for the first time yesterday. His old Honda Civic is almost dead and he was all over the idea of this truck with some racks for his canoe or sailboard. When I told him that there is a 5 seat version with tumble forward seats he was picturing a mini-camper (they used to have a VW camper).
