bluejayart
Anyone here using the TC as a wheelchair van? I'm thinking of getting one as a cheaper alternative to a Honda or Toyota. I would get a platform lift installed in the back..seems like the suspension would be able to handle the weight of the powerchair/lift better. Anyone who is living with one, I'd love to hear your impressions of daily life as a mobility van. TC-stretch4044

I know of a Ford Dealer that sells raised roof Transits with power lifts in them in Sturgis, Michigan.
Bikesnbreakdowns
Checking out each OEM's Mobility Programs would be a good place to start for anyone looking for a conversion. https://www.fordmobilitymotoring.com/reimbursement.mob http://www.toyotamobility.com/ http://automobiles.honda.com/information/mobility-assistance.aspx
Roger Baker
I decided to go this route and ordered on back in November - so I will post my results once the vehicle arrives. I did some careful measuring, and it looks like I can load my wheelchair/scooter behind the second row of seats. We'll see.
DavidRussell
We just introduced our Raised Roof / Raised Door Transit Connect in the Ford exhibit at the NMEDA show. I took a few pictures of the van at the exhibit. The Transit has a 56 1/4" opening and a 61" clearance after we raise the doors/roof. I will post to the photo section of this forum. Bill55az
I will eventually be needing a wheelchair, due to Parkinson's Disease. Seeing the Transit on the road, it occurred to me that it would make a good economical van for the wife to haul me around. So I will be following posts here to get the opinions of others. jefkom
My wife has MS. I decided to sell our other 2 vehicles and get the TC modified by Malley Industries in New Brunswick, Canada. They're authorized by Ford to do this conversion. Mine should arrive any day now.
