jept
Is there any option to get a Transit Connect without the front center console? My mother who has a right below the knee amputation drives with her left foot and needs the center area to be open (in order to place her prosthesis in the center). The Transit Connect is perfect for her otherwise.
azdamay
Not that I am aware of. Even if you bought one and attempted to remove the existing console, there are components located under it that would still be in the way. Not the least of which is the shifter, which is only available as a floor-mounted unit (no column mount available).

The Transit Connect is perfect for her otherwise. I asked Ford service people what was under the console. Part of the floor mounted shifter is there - but not that much. There is a box for some electronics and a bundle of cables, also not very big. Otherwise it's just empty space. If Ford wants your business, perhaps you can persuade a dealer to unbolt the console to have your mother try it out. When I took the TC on a test drive, I told the salesman the only thing that kept me from buying it was the lousy driver's seat - this info obviously went into one of the salesman's ear & then out the other. There are many companies that offer the adaptor. it also enables your mother to be positioned in the seat correctly for safety reasons.
