New Owners - New World

We are truck people. We have been putting off getting into a new vehicle for years, nursing our 2000 GMC along into the 165,000 miles and 10 years old category as gracefully as possible. Last year we looked at a Prius and while we really love the technology and the hybrid design, it probably came a few decades too late for a couple of 'new 60's Generation' types like us. Maybe next lifetime with the small, green footprint. And even our trusty Extended Cab GMC or Ford Pickups are just too hard for our aging joints to climb into, although we do like the iron around us.

The prospect of $35K+ to get another Sierra or F150 that still only gets 16-18 mpg was just not the answer. So a couple of Saturdays ago, she said, "Let's go see what's out there. Take a drive, see what's on the lot, maybe not even get out of the truck." Well, we went over to check out the newest Aldi Food Market location not far from our niche in northwest Texas, and on the way to the Toyota and Honda places, we pulled into a new location for one of the oldest Ford dealerships in this part of the world.

And we saw the line of mostly white Cargo TC's, and she 'eeked'. "What IS that?" As I sad, we are truck people and love function over form 10 times out of ten. So this not so little EuroVan style vehicle as part of the last, strongest American car maker's stable was a natural. We arranged the finance and spiffed up our old Jimmy for a negotiating trade point, drove back yesterday and did not leave until the deal was set.

Wahoo! :yahoo:
