privateyec
Just took posession of my new T/C XLT Wagon last week. I'm very pleased at the gas mileage and maneuverability. So far, I've had 5 strangers come up to get a closer look and have all their questions answered about it. Everyone's so curious. I am a delivery sub-contractor in Rochester, NY and it's perfectly suited for what I do, and it doubles as a family car. I hope the front wheel drive will perform well in our winter weather. I plan on outfitting it with a set of 4 snows when the time comes. I've got a question that may pertain to tires, but not sure. The ride is quiet until I get up to 60 mph. That's when a cyclic humming starts. I think it's coming from the front end, and happens regardless of whether I'm accelerating or coasting. My vehicle came with Continental Conti-Pro-Contact tires, if this helps. I explained the issue to the service dept. where I bought the vehicle and they basically scratched their heads and stated that the new Transits on their lot do the same thing. I didn't do a test drive with the tech, so I'm not sure if he heard what I hear. I love everything else about this vehicle and am determined to find the problem, so that I don't have to listen to this on the many long road trips I'll be taking. Any input appreciated. TCBob
I have taken several 90-130 mile trips at 60 to 70 mph and have not noticed any humming.
