boomer43
Hi All, I took delivery of my Ford Transit Connect mid December 2009 and found this forum while poking around looking for additional information on the TC. I currently have around 400 miles on it. I'm located in northern Rhode Island where we just missed being hammered by the latest blizzard that passed through, so I haven't had a chance to try it in real snow conditions. Southern Rhode Island, near the ocean, wasn't as lucky. So far I'm happy as a clam. I'm retired, and the TC will be my 'daily driver'. This is my third van, and so far, it promises to be the best of the bunch. I bought the XLT Wagon as it's to be used as a car. Not sure why, but I couldn't transfer my existing car plates. Had to go with truck plates or what the DMV calls a 'combination' plate. I went with the combination plates, as truck plates are not always a good idea when traveling. The only upgrades I've installed so far are a 'plug n play' accessory for my iPod. (Combination holder and power plug arrangement with an audio output to the OEM radio.) I have to say the sound is a bit better using the iPod as a source. Some new speakers are definitely on the list for upgrading at some point down the line. The other upgrade was a Garmin nuvi GPS mounted on a 'homemade' bracket that spans the void on the dashboard, just behind the heating/cooling vent above the radio. In my case this is a necessity, as my sense of direction is non existant. The reported gas mileage is a plus, as I plan on a few longer excursions when the weather improves. isellford
Welcome and good luck with your new TC, I spent the better part of almost 3 years at the old Quonset NAS back in the 70's. Loved it up there.
