woop21
Is there a suggested way of making or buying privacy shades for the side and rear windows? I have a cargo van (no rear seats), but it has side and rear windows. I plan to keep a porta-potty in the back of the van, and would like some privacy if I use it. It would be ideal if they were attached by velcro, so I could quickly put them up and take them down. I might also want a curtain behind the front seats. Any suggestions? I just bought a used 2011 Transit Connect on Monday.
Willie
I made up some curtains for camping. Pretty crude, nothing fancy. I hold them up with suction cup hooks, but they are clumsy to use. I'm sure there are better methods being employed by others. Edited May 30, 2013 by Willie
SadieBabe
Just came back from camping in my Lil' Woody. Decided that I can make simple window fabric panels that attach with basic magnets. I did put a fleece blanket over rear windows, using magnets, while camping and that worked well. Bought a sun shade for front window which attaches to windshield with suction cups. woop21
I hadn't thought of magnets, that's a good idea. I will see if I can make something for the side-windows and back. For the front, I will get a sunshade made for the Transit Connect. Thanks!
Willie
I always use a "jumbo" sunshade on the windshield. It provides both privacy and also works wonders on keeping the car cooler with that huge windshield. Just a regular "jumbo" from the Walmart or Kmart works perfectly. No need for any "custom" application. It stores perfectly in the overhead shelf too. Edited June 1, 2013 by Willie
goshanego
We are also going to go with magnets sewn into the fabric for the back and side door windows. For the front we are going to make a long curtain that connects to the arms that hold the visors and then will wrap around cover front side windows and connect to side hooks. It will look something similar to what was made for the VW Westfalia campers front and side windows. Hope to get some pictures up once we are finished. Good luck with your curtains.
