They must have had one already on order that they switched you to as the normal lead time for a TC for a fresh order is 4-5 months.

Maybe, but I don't think so. I saw the printout of the status reports (pages and pages of dot matrix printer babble). About mid Sept. order had been accepted under my surname at factory in Turkey. About two weeks ago another printout showed delivery for week of Nov. 27. The one frustrating thing has been the lack of dependable information from the dealer. I don't know whether they just don't have access to things like a ballpark lead time, but back in Sept. they were telling me "end of October." I understand that this is a new product and that it's coming from the EU etc, but if Ford really wants to implement One Ford they're going to need to tighten up the way they communicate internally. All these guessing games on the (my) dealer's part make the whole operation look very amateur.

I don't want to tep on your dealers toes but the ETA's are not accurate for the TC. Ford has told us that months ago; something to do with the Europe and US systems not being that compatable. Here is a copy of one of our status's from start until noe. OPrdered July with a current ETA of end Dec. Once produced, it goes to the port in Turkey for a boat ride to the U.K. where it gets paired up for the ocean voyage across the big pond. It can take a month or longer just from production date until it arrives at the US port for processing. Between processing and shipping to the dealer will take at a minimum of a couple weeks; sometimes longer depending on where it is going. These are just the facts. A lot of dealers have not had the experience in overseas orders and do not realize allof the logistics involved. Below is a cronology of a TC that we ordered in July with current status on top. Ask you dealer for a Vehicle Visibility printout which should look like something below. In this case, ordered in July, selected for Scheduling in Sept, Production week of 10/15, shipped to U.K 11/4 [has not arrived UK yet] Dealer ETA is 12/29. The vehicle visibility status is a lot more accurate than the status report that your salesperson showed you.

In Transit Shipped Ocean - Voyage # (Grimaldi Agencies Uk Limited ) Ramp 9T, Turkey, EU Nov-04-2009, 00:01 EET Dec-29-2009

Thanks Ed. I honestly don't remember what the sheet he showed me was called, I just assumed it was the visibility report that you're referring to. It was a list of every vehicle ordered by the dealership listing current status/location and ETA when available. If what you're saying is true, I shouldn't expect my vehicle till end of January or later. I'll have to talk to them about this, because I have certain aspects of my business scheduled or on hold based on the ETA they gave me. If the date will be that far in the future, I may have to rent another van in the meantime to make things work.

What they probably showed you is the vehicle status report. This is a computer generated report sent to the dealer overnight each day. They vehilcle visibility is an individual report generated by keying in the applicable order number on line. I check my customers orders every couple days this way so I can keep them up to date on what is going on with their orders. It is amazing how different the info is between the two reports; with the vehicle visibility being the most up to date.

I stopped in at the dealer on Thursday and explained exactly what I wanted. Finally one of the head managers came and punched in the order code and got the Visibility Report. Turns out that the floor guys and lower managers didn't even know the VR existed, nor do they have access to it. The VR confirmed the end of November ETA for my vehicle and showed that it was either at or had already left Ramp 9 en route to Baltimore. From there it should be a matter of removing the rear seat, installing the floor extension and shipping direct to PA since I'm doing the upfits. Thanks for that info. I would really be in a bind if I had to wait till January for a truck!

One thing the head manager explained was that sales orders are pushed ahead of dealer stock orders. They showed me a number of TCs that had been ordered for dealer stock before mine that were scheduled for delivery later than mine. At least I get some priority :)

Glad that they got it cleared up for you.
