Hello ! My Ford Transit Connect is having what I think are electrical issues. Sometimes I go to start the van and it will act as if the battery is completely dead. No clicks of the engine trying to start and I can’t turn on my inside lights. The battery is brand new replaced earlier this year. I definitely am not leaving my lights on or draining the battery. Today I got in to start it after being in a gas station for 5 mins and nothing would come on, even the inside lights. I randomly decided go open my door and then the lights inside turned on . SO WEIRD because using the switch inside didn’t do anything. So I tried to start it and all of a sudden it started (a few clicks almost like it didn’t want to?) . This happened a month ago I thought I left my lights on , went back the next day to jump the battery and it just started . Anyone else had weird issues like this before ??? Every so often a random fuse blows and I can’t get my van to go out of park until I change the fuse. (This happened before the not starting). Thanks for any tips !!!

Hi All, I'm a brand new member here and hope to fit into this band of brothers and sister transit enthusiasts, so I feel a bit guilty starting with a problem. I purchased a 2010 transit about 6 months ago. At the time I didnt think about this issue as it did this from the veru beginning. Otherwise it runs beautifully in every sense. Here is the problem: when I turn off the key all of the electrics remain powered (radio, powerpoints, headlights, cabin lights, dashboard display etc). I can turn everythinf off accept the dash's display. I've tried the following: Pulled the ignition cylinder as it seemed a bit loose, completely removed the ignition switch, detached all of the wiring harnesses in the steering column (I removed the shroud so I dont think I missed anything, sequentially removed all of the fuses in the passenger compartment as well as those under the hood. Nothing seemed to change the fundamental problem. Now I just disconnect the battery when I park overnight or the battery will drain by the next morning. I'm really baffled. I could see electrical components failing but remaining on is a mystery to me. Could I have a relay switch stuck on? Grounding wiring? Any insight would be deeply appreciated.

Here is what I am facing. 2010 Transit Connect engine was turning over but not starting, after some checking of the fuses under the hood it would no longer crank over. So had it sent to the dealership and they reported that the Main junction box under the hood had corrosion/rust from water getting into the junction box. The dealer stated that the junction box/wire harness had to be replaced, part and labor over $3500.00 (no way I can pay that much) They did get it running so I could drive it home. I have went through the junction box and cleaned all the fuses and contacts, I do not notice any apparent shorts in the wires. When I mounted everything back I am back to square one, no cranking over. Any suggestions would be great. I would like to keep from replacing the wire harness if at all possible.
