  1. The first time I had a problem it started when the battery died so I bump started my van.... soon after this the radiator fan stayed on when the engine was off and was in over drive (noisy) never done this before. Soon after this I noticed oil pouring down the head lights. I am assuming pressure built up somehow and it fired out of where the dip stick is onto the bonnet and down the lights. the garage couldn’t find any faults and cleaned it up. a few months on the battery has died and I bumped it off again. the fan has gone wild again... the oil hasn’t popped again but I think it may be next. any ideas of what is going on? I am not mechanically minded whatsoever so any help would be appreciated
  2. Hi All. Just joined as I need a part and don't know where to begin looking! Rubber elbow with barometric pressure sensor. Admission side. (However I wanted to just get the rubber part and not the pressure sensor as well). 2007, diesel. See photo attached. I'm currently in Spain and my mechanic told me I should get the part from the UK as it would be much cheaper. In Spain he can only order the full part (with the sensor) and not the specific bit I need (just the rubber elbow). I tried a breakers site and got no replies? Anyone know where is best to get this? Help appreciated.
  3. I have a 2013 TC 280K with blown engine. This is my second TC. Another blew engine at 305K. I am going to replace the 2013 engine and want to know if a 2.3l or 2.5l can be used and will the tranny mate up. Other options are welcome. Obviously I can do the 2.0l, just curious since something is going to go in it.
  4. My work recently purchased a second hand 2011 Transit Connect (Gas-Powered US Model) with approximately 70K miles. It has blown the transmission after something like 6 months and < 10k miles traveled (the Ford tech pulled the transmission oil pan and it was filled with metal shavings). I would like to purchase a replacement transmission and potentially install it myself. I have the following questions: There are seperate parts listings for "From 1/17/11" and "Thru 1/16/11" - what is the difference? According to what I've read the transmission should be this transmission - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_4F27E_transmission Is there a model year difference? In that same train of thought, it seems that the Ford Focus 03-11 uses the same transmission, are they completely interchangeable? The powertrains seem to be vastly similar. Finally, is there anything I can do to extend the transmission life on this vehicle? It seems as if the engine/transmission were designed for fairly low loads and light usage, but we're using it as a work van to carry tools/ladders (nothing super-heavy, but non-trivial amount of weight and drag from roof-rack ladders). I briefly considered a manual transmission swap, but would a transmission cooler help? Thanks in advance.
