Here's another ongoing problem with this vehicle which happens everyday with two times in the shop and the dealer is unable to fix it: Engine temperature gauge goes up all the way to high temp and "Engine Coolant Over Temperature" warning appears on the screen - most of the time the warning does not lock in however there have been times when it did lock in and I had to "acknowledge" it. For whatever reason the dealer has not replaced any parts such as the thermostat or sensor which brings me to a question: is the coolant high temp detected through an ECT sensor or through a cylinder head temperature sensor or something else ?

Hi! ive got a problem which looks like a coolant problem. It’s a temperamental problem sometimes my heating works sometimes it doesn’t work. sometimes when on the motorway the temperature gauge goes up 3/4 the way up then my van will go into limpmode, then for about half a mile the gauge will go back down then the heating will work and i can get the power back and i can get going again. The coolant level will sometimes be above max and sometimes just above minimum. ive had my mechanic look at it and he said it isn’t showing all the signs of a head gasket leak but still could be, last week he got a load of air out of the system and my van did work perfectly for about a week but this morning it went into limpmode again. ive seen a few of the same problems with this 1.6 engine on this forum, anyone find what the problem is? cheers ash

I have a 2010 connect and I’m having problems with the coolant reservoir. I’ve replaced it twice now because the cap keeps loosing up or pops up slightly because of the pressure. I can smell it inside of the van. Tonight I notice that there was a pretty big leak. It looks to be coming from the cap. And I can see the coolant bubbling in the reservoir. New cap and tank. As far as. Can tell the van isn’t over heating. No mixing of oil and coolant. And I travel over two hundred miles ever week. It it just seems like the cap isn’t holding pressure. But I’ve also tried a different cap. But if you tighten it up it mess up the threads and you need a new tank. Many help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Sometimes my 2010 has a coolant / antifreeze smell, but the coolant level has not gone down in 5,000 miles. The coolant level was slightly low when I purchased her, but after topping it off, hasn't been low since. I know this smell from previous vehicles that have had leaks. Any idea where to begin looking? Info: 2010 2.0L gas engine, only 47,000 miles.
