  1. I think this guy actually gets what this van is all about! One of the better reviews I've seen.
  2. My retired father in law saw my TC for the first time yesterday. His old Honda Civic is almost dead and he was all over the idea of this truck with some racks for his canoe or sailboard. When I told him that there is a 5 seat version with tumble forward seats he was picturing a mini-camper (they used to have a VW camper).
  3. Like best: Milage, Handling (especially turning radius), high visibity (everyone looks since it's different), low load height, payload, high roof, access to back area with all doors open (you really don't have to step in to get things) Not so much favorite things: small mirrors and no wide angle mirrors, radio fuzzy at high volumes, not diesel engine like Euro-version... that's about it.
  4. The current platform is not a car platform but rather a dedicated heavy duty truck platform (at least that's what all the press releases say from last year's auto show intro in Detroit). Does moving production here mean a lighter duty underpinning? If so leave production in Turkey.
  5. Happy with mine relative to my old 93 Aerostar AWD. Almost twice the milage and I don't need to listen for the next problem to fix. Don't get me wrong, the Aerostar was great, but driving 100+ km per day is not kind to a vehicle that has 336,000 kms. I'd be exstatic if it had a diesel like the Euro-version and almost double the mileage again.
  6. Funny that's not what all the people say when they see my TC! One of the most common questions is "does it come with more seats?" since mine is a two seater. When they hear the price and see inside they always leave with a smile.
  7. No surprise to me! I factory ordered mine in March and just picked it up Aug 11. My dealer ordered as many as they were allowed and pretty much pre-sold them all. Out of 12 units 2 are left. I've already had people ask about a wagon version (mine is a plain-jane two seat box no rear windows). I've never had anyone approach me about any car I've owned in the past, now I have 1-2 people come up when ever I park in a mall or homecentre. B)
  8. My name is Ron and I'm a Transitaholic... I've been following the Transit and Transit Connect for about 3 years. Mainly because the 2007 Ranger I had just did not work for my purposes. I own a wood flooring shop and the payload and large covered cargo area are just what I needed. My only disapointment is that we didn't get the 1.8l turbo diesel powerplant. I ordered my TC in March and took delivery Aug 11. I've already got 1300 km (yes I'm Canadian, from Vanvouver to be exact) and I'm averaging about 400 km on 40-45 litres of gas, that's almost twice the milage I got from my 93 Areostar AWD and it actually handles a load better. My Connect has no rear windows, backup sensor and stability package, otherwise it is a stock box. The handling is great and I highly advise the stabilty package, it has no lean even in fast corners with a load. It's like you're glued to the road. I have driven Ford vans all my life from E150's to E350 cubes (my other current truck is a 2004 E350 7.3l turbo diesel with 16' box) and this is the best handling truck I've ever owned. Granted it is a lot more like a car and I don't think I've ever sat this low! If you get a TC expect to talk to a lot of people! I figure I should get some kind of commission with all the people that ask about my odd little truck!
