Ford Motor Company January sales of 154,644 total vehicles are down 7 percent from a year ago, while retail sales of 113,721 vehicles are off 5 percent. Ford Sales Analyst, Erich Merkle, says mother nature took its toll on consumers spending, with record breaking snow falls and sub-zero temperatures. View the full article

Ford Motor Credit Company reported a pre-tax profit of $1.8 billion in 2013, compared with $1.7 billion a year earlier. The improvement was more than explained by higher volume, primarily in North America, driven by an increase in leasing reflecting changes in Ford’s marketing programs, as well as higher non-consumer finance receivables due to higher dealer stocks. Partial offsets were higher credit losses due to lower credit loss reserve reductions in all geographic segments and unfavorable residual performance related to lower than expected auction values in North America. Ford Credit’s net income was $1.5 billion in 2013, compared with $1.2 billion in the previous year. View the full article

At Barrett-Jackson Auction Company’s sale in Scottsdale, Ariz., a car collector and North Texas Ford dealer, Sam Pack, paid $300,000 to have the first retail production unit of the all-new 2015 Mustang GT when it goes on sale this fall. This purchase helped Ford Motor Company increase its charity vehicle sales to more than $3.5 million for JDRF, the leading diabetes research organization and a Ford partner since 1983.
