  1. Hello all, I made the 9K goal I had over the last 6 month working part time gig work and now I am selling my TC to get my next toy! I still drive the TC whenever it rains/snows, or I have a gig work. With this nice summer weather I find myself in my convertible the majority of the time, (like today) so the van sits lol. I am really impressed with how well the TC does in the snow. I totally get why people like these little vans. The fact that they drive like cars and have solid gas mileage is what sold me. Anyway, the van needs some work even though I drive this a few hundred miles weekly. Wok needed Fuel pump, The lock issue that says the door is open sometimes when it is not and some times you have to hit the key fob lock multiple times to get all the door to lock. It has a power steering leak that is random. Sometimes I have to add fluid weekly, Some times daily and other times its every few months. It's weird.I have not had to add any since April and I checked it yesterday. Maybe it's the stop leak fluid??? Transmission service. I notice at times its not as smooth as it should be downshifting. It has a cracked front windshield that I haven't fixed. I planned to replace it, but then decided to let the next owner replace the glass. (unless I get pulled over for the crack then I will replace it.) Rear mirror back up camera stopped working. It randomly works when it wants. Green light comes on and it beeps, but the camera display randomly works. Thats all I know thus far. I am not a mechanic, however you are free to have any mechanic look at the van by appointment. I am in Maryland and travel between Harford Cnty and AA Cnty, Maryland. Sundays after 11am is the best day to see this Van, but I may be able to get free from work a few hours during the week. The van comes with TWO good spare tires and rims. One under the van and I have an extra one in storage. Spare tire lift works like it should. Van has the standard radio with aux. Van also has the rear cage that protects your cargo from flying up to the driver/passenger area during hard breaking, or an accident. No rips, or holes in the seats. I am going to clean up the inside of the van this Sunday and take better pictures of the inside. This van is ready to make money, or be turned into a camper, etc. A few days ago on my lunch break I made $39 picking up and driving two boxes 7.5 miles. (see picture) I know you have to do some repairs, so I will consider reasonable offers. Ask any questions you have and I will do my best to answer them.
  2. Ok, I will give it a look tomorrow. The splice you mentioned is in the back? Where does the actual liquid spray out of in back? Does the nozzle sit on top pointing down to spray? I'll search and try to find a pic. I do not even see any hoses at all. I'll check again tomorrow. EDIT- Took a quick look again before dark and found the issue. No issues with any hoses, which I never saw anyway lol. I found a vid that was talking about the rear sprayers and it showed me where they were. I did not know they were at the base of the wipers. The nozzles got moved/twisted somehow. Maybe from the ice and snow over winter? Anyway I twisted them a little to point them back on the windows and poof, sprayers spraying on the windows again. I guess since I was in the drivers seat prior I could not see the liquid missing the windows, and assumed they weren't working. They were working, but just spraying in air and not on the rear windows. Thanks for the reply...
  3. Hello all, I am not crazy. I remember using my rear window washer sprayers multiple times n the past to clean the barn door windows. For the life of me I do not see spray nozzles back there where the liquid comes out. I bring this up because now when I try to spray back there I hear the sound but no spray. There is fluid in the reservoir under the hood and my front still sprays and works without issue. Does the rear have its own place to to fill? Where the heck does the liquid spray out of at the rear windows? I looked for 5 minutes the other day and there is nothing on top, sides, or bottom, OR on the wipers for liquid to spray out of. What the heck??? 2011 Transit Connect XLT
  4. Thanks for the reply...
  5. Hello all, I wanted to give an update on my first winter with the TC. We (Maryland) has had two snow storms thus far this winter. One about 3 to 4" and one about 1 to 2" in the span of 5 days. I understand fully that those numbers are not blizzards, but they are what they are. There are tons on slushy driveways here that I still see everyday. The amount of people that wont shovel the sidewalk, or driveway is amazing, but thats for another topic. I have to say that I am very impressed with how the TC did and continues to do in the snow and ice. I actively drove all day during both storms and the TC did great. Slush, snow and ice did not cause any issues and I felt steady and sure on the streets and highways. (I'm still shocked about it to be honest.) I still am buying snow tires as soon as I can, because I want every advantage during the winter I can get since I do not have AWD, or 4WD in the TC. I would already have bought them, but I have been doing some repairs on the TC that were on the front burner and more important. So you guys were correct. The TC does well in the snow. Thanks! One last thing, since the TC is FWD and the rears don't do anything, do I have to put snow tires on all four tires, or do I only buy them for the front tires? Thanks again...
  6. FYI- I confirmed it is the parking sensors on my van that makes the beep.. Multiple times now when I have gotten too close to something while backing up it beeps. It make an initial single beep when I put the van in reverse. That single beep is what I originally asked about.
  7. What does the "XLT" stand for within the Transit Connect model? I have seen posts that people say they did not have the XLT. Trying to understand the differences with and without XLT. Thanks..
  8. I love everything about that project. Congrats...
  9. I am not sure what year you have, etc. but you do not need anything special for swapping maps lights. I have changed every interior light to LED. Zero issues and is now super UFO bright just like I like them. 11TCXLT
  10. I think you should have no fear in reaching that goal. There are plenty of them with higher miles on the clock out there still running. Staying on top of matenence is key. Anything can break down, or have trouble. Anything, but if you do your best to put the odds in your favor you will have a better chance. I have 175k on my 11 TCXLT. The majority of the miles are from prior owners, but I plan to keep my TC and squeeze everything I can out of her. In the future I may get a newer model, but I don't plan on it anytime soon. I have some things to address on my TC, but nothing that has stopped me from driving thus far. Good luck
  11. Thanks for the info. I will try to figure out where the beep is coming from on a warmer day. As I heard it this morning it almost sounded like it was coming from the mirror itself. Dunno. As for the cage I appreciate the offer. I am going to check my local junk yard this week to see if they have any transits.
  12. Hello all. New 11TCXLT member here. Still learning and growing with the TC which is just a work van/commuter for me. Not haven driven any other TC models (10-11, or 12 I think those years are basically the same?) I have nothing to compare. I was curious if any of you with the cargo van (no rear seats) Have a backup beep while in reverse? I ask because when I toss the van in reverse I hear a millisecond single beep, but it seems to be from inside the rear of the van not outside. It almost sounds digital like it is somehow tied to the rear camera. Do you guys have that too? Or should my van not beep at all? Or has a prior owner somehow disabled the back up beep so it doesn't stay on for long? I will grab a vid of it later today. I guess I could also look in the owners manual lol. Another thing, the rear camera I really like. The fact that its a factory option on such a basic van is impressive. The rear camera and display in the rearview mirror looks super clear and crisp at night, although the warning trajectory lines are not remotely as accurate as our luxury cars we own. (distance until hitting something) but they are acceptable. One thing though, the camera looks horrible in the day light. Super bright and hard to see. Yes I know I can adjust the brightness, etc, but it doesn't help. I have tried. The day view is just horrible and I don't really use it. The view in the rearview mirror is almost transparent for lack of a better description during the day. Again the camera view looks great at night. I will post a pic of that later too. My TC has the cage blocking of the drivers cabin from the rear which I like. I do not have the window cages which I wish I had. I will try to find some used ones online. I dont and wont even keep anything in the van at all, but I like those window metal screens/cages for lack of a better term. I cringe when I see YouTube videos of people turning their TC into a camper and then taking them off and trashing them. I am always like nooooooooo, give them to me! I get why some don't like them. Just looking for feedback from some others. Thanks guys....
  13. Nope no mountain trips, not my thing. This will strictly be a money making/not wanting to take my daily driver out in bad weather vehicle. I am inclined to feel the same as you about the timeline on the winter. Can't wait to post updates this winter about my driving experiences in the TC. I hope I have good things to say.
  14. Mine did similar. When I turned the lights on to drive I saw the lights on fine, but with remote unlock at night I saw one light out. It was hard to tell and see with my old/cloudy headlights, but after further inspection when I was swapping out my bulbs for LEDs I found the marker light on the inside of the headlights (Beside the actual headlight bulb) was out. When looking at the light at nightI assumed it was the headlight bul. It was not. Swapped the bulbs and now no further issues.
  15. I searched a few times, but I see no such motors. Since the original post is so old the link is no longer good. I see now you aded some pics, so I will do some searching to see what they cost now and how available they are. Thanks..
  16. Like many I also have the door ajar issue. I prefer not to do any bypass, because I want to know if my door is really not properly shut. I am going to have Ford to a software update maybe this year or next. I have read that sometimes that fixes this and other small issues. Sometime you have to swap switches, sensor and harnesses though. Since I have LED lights inside it is super bright at night when the lights pop on when the door shows as open. (even if it is not) I hate that so while night driving I always turn the inside lights off. The door chime is also annoying, but with all the road noise, etc it's not the worse. Either way I will deal with the door ajar at some point, but for now there are bigger fish to fry.
  17. Old thread, but it is still helpful. I noticed in my 11TC the rear 12v is always on as well. Found that out last night when I plugged in my air compressor. My compressor turned right on, no need to start the van.

    Intro

Hello everyone. First time owner of a 11 TC XLT. I love this little van. It is really zippy around town. I use this to commute 3 times per week a few cities away, because I did not want to continue to rack up miles on my daily driver. I also plan to do deliveries to make extra money. The TC will be my winter use vehicle here in Maryland as well, as most winter we don't get much snow here. Maybe 4 " all season, so I will be fine with winter tires and front wheel drive. Every 10 years, or so we get hit with 20 to 40" of snow but I wont be out on the roads, or working at those times anyway. Looking forward to chatting with you guys about the TC, passing info on, as well as receiving info. Glad to be part of the family.
  19. This feature has always worked on our other brands, but not on my 11 TC
  20. Hello all, me and my 2011 TC XLT are new members here, so hello! I have always had an SUV for winter as my regular car sits all winter until spring returns. This winter I will drive the TC as I no longer have my SUV. When would be the best time to put on winter tires? Although the TC is only front wheel drive I will be fine with winter tires on this season. I wont be going to work with 10+ inches of snow anyway, but I will still be out and about with a few inches on the ground. Not sure if putting winter tires on too soon is a bad thing, or not. For those of you with dedicated winter tires (not all season) when do you put them on? Know any brands, or models that work better on the TC than others?? Thanks in advance..
  21. What a shame. I just tossed 3 of these in the trash last week. I would say search the big auction sites, and local junk yards..
