Removing Factory Rails in favor of Ladder Rack (2014)
dcommsc replied to dcommsc's topic in Accessories and Modifications
Found the clips, Door Trim Panel Clip - Ford (W713297-S300) How about these for the plugs? https://www.ebay.com/itm/314906476389?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&mkscid=101&itemid=314906476389&targetid=1645685073568&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=9010496&poi&campaignid=20133407470&mkgroupid=147476396765&rlsatarget=pla-1645685073568&abcId=9312979&merchantid=675188061&gclid=CjwKCAiAvdCrBhBREiwAX6-6UhraYvFbn4FA67ExXt2ynSEaIs9FNo4gTGZjgUH96PHUofjNcIhszRoCu-0QAvD_BwE&fbclid=IwAR08OxEK7RwUV5cqrCc5gpbTs1EvPRtNjgpbo4yLCourGOAhNh6-n4OIe-o -
Hello All, Looking for some help. I ordered a two post ladder rack for my 14 connect LWB that have two mounting points on each side. I currently have factory rails (I believe) that I will be removing, that I notice have four mounting spots each side. So I am assuming when I remove the factory rails and install the ladder rack I’ll have 4 holes. Are there plugs or something I need to get? Also, anyone have the part number for these clips (I broke two). Thanks!

Engine air filter and cabin filter done already. All wipers done as well as all lights replaced with LED's I will get new belts/thermostat on order, are there any good writes ups on the replacement? Possibly including the thermostat, belt tensioners and what not? When "Looking" at a water pump, what am I looking for aside from the obvious leaks? Brakes look to be pretty new. Rotors look good, lots of meat on all the pads, however fluid may be a good idea on the next brake job. What about the timing belt/chain? Thanks!

Hello all. So I purchased a 2014 2.5L about a month ago to use with my small IT Business. Anyway, I picked her up with 113,683 and below is what I have done thus far? Am I missing anything to keep her running great? Perhaps Belt Replacement? Fuel Filter? - 113,726 Take 5 Oil Change o Oil Change (Duramax Full Synthetic High Millage 5W20) o Engine Air Filter & Cabin Filter - 114,138 Take 5 Oil Change o Coolant Exchange (Shellzone MV AF/C 50 DR SZAF50DR) - 114,482 Replaced (4) Spark Plugs with OEM MotorCraft SP-530-X - 114,482 Replaced (4) Ignition Coils with OEM MotorCraft DG-522 - 114,570 Replaced Transmission Fluid with OEM MotorCraft XT-10-QLVC Mercon LV Automatic Transmission Fluid (5 Quart)

Well she fresh now! ?

Thought I would follow back up. Everything went smoothly. I don't know the history on the fluid, it was pretty dark coming out. My Connect currently has 114k. I bought it with 113K, vehicle was owned by Ford the entire time as a courtesy vehicle, so you would assume they would of changed it, but who knows. Anyway, some things I noticed right off the bat. Shifting into every gear is much smoother, used to jerk a tiny bit. Also, up-shifting used to hang a bit before going into gear. That seems to have gone away as well. All around, seems smoother, that's for sure. I am planning to swap the fluid again at 1k miles or so.

I used McGard, and same - cone was definitely shorter. I called McGard and confirmed I had the correct kit - which I did and they said its OK, as mine were designed for Alloy wheels only. Guessing the big stock ones work well with steelies as well (so I kept 5 stock lugs for the spare tire). I torqued mine to the specs in my manual, which was 100lb-ft (2014 TC).

And I had a broken locking lug, so why not upgrade, right? ?

I do plan on using FORScan on my iPhone. I know you want a wired connection to write, so what all do people write to the car? Wondering if its worth it to get a wired one as well. Not all sure what I can/would want to change on my 2014. I don't plan on having gauges displayed all the time, unless I am diagnosing something.

Amazon has some decent deals so I picked up this one:

Thank you! I am assuming there is no issue running it with only 3qts during the flush like outlined? Isn't the capacity 5qts? Pretty sure i saw somewhere you want to run it thru the gears as well. Thanks!

Appreciate all of the info!
-
Right on. They are all listed on FORScan as supported adapters. Just wasn't sure if one say shows more data or something.

Hello all. Looking into scanners for my 2014 TC 2.5L. I have seen FORScan mentioned. Is that the one to go with for iPhone? Also, confused on the "Supported adapters". Is there really a benefit choosing the $140 one over the $45 or $60 one? Thanks! - OBDLink MX+ $140 - vLinker FS Bluetooth $60 - vLinker FD+ BLE+ $45
