Hi, I'll try and attach a pic later. But I have a rather alarming issue with an otherwise ok transit connect 63plate, 84K miles. I tend to only travel short journeys but sometimes as I stop I notice white smoke coming from the rear of the engine and to the left side. It is quite localised. 2 garages have failed to identify the cause but I cant force it to happen when I want it to so that a mechanic can see it. The van is in really good condition and I would hate for this to become a catastrophic fault. I cant tell if the smoke smells oily or rubbery. It happens for perhaps less than 1 minute after switching the engine off so there is little time to investigate. But I cannot ignore it - something somewhere is burning.

Its a long story that i'd rather not go down. But to try cut it short - At first the problem seemed minor so I asked a mobile mechanic to have a look. It progressed into a full clutch job that he insisted he could still do, but the plot thickened later and he scarpered leaving me with my van in bits all over the lawn. It was difficult to find someone to help me out of the pickle but someone did manage to finish the job and put it all back together for a price. It worked for about 1 day then serious problems showed up culminating in seized gearbox? An old friend of mine is coming to see me tomorrow to investigate further but I think the inevitable scrap man will triumph which is a shame as the engine starts fine and its had new sills etc...

Hi, new here, I have serious problems with what appears to be a seized gearbox after a clutch replacement job. Can someone direct me to a resource or help me identify exactly what might be going on? Thank you. Craig T.
