We are leasing a 2010 Transit Connect at work (4cyl Gas) automatic transmission.
It has ~ 20k miles and has been fairly reliable up to this point.
Last week while driving it home on the highway, out of nowhere it acted like I had slammed the transmission into first gear. The RPM's red-lined, the front end dove down and my speed shot from 70mph to 20mph .
I pulled over and shut it off, and when I restarted it ran normally.
The next day after about 30 minutes of highway driving it did the same exact thing.
Took it into the local Ford dealer in Tupelo, and of course they can't find anything wrong with it and want me to pick it up. I'm reluctant to do so as in my opinion it is dangerous in this condition, and after much arguing they agreed to take it out again for a highway drive and try to find out.
Any issues known to point them in a direction? They haven't seen many of the Transits, so I don't feel they know what to look for.
