Greetings from a Newbie...
I come here in search of knowledge!
My son has come back home (500 miles each way) with his T230 LWB High Top (No working heater), and taken away his Mother's Mini.
Nothing new in that...his Transit needs some TLC and fixing and good old Dad does it for free!!!
Having spent Saturday morning Holts treating and flushing the coolant, I replaced a couple of split Turbo hoses that needed doing. I then cured the bird churping noise by fitting a new drive/aux belt, then went for the lack of cabin heat by changing the complete thermostat and housing and the main radiator, in the hope of purging the heater matrix with improved flow - at least hopeful of giving it it's best chance to improve.
Last thing Saturday, after filling up system with fresh coolant, it immediately started pissing out coolant like a tap from a plastic elbow (that has a split on the bend) at the rear of the engine. As all the local parts stores were shut, I tried plastic weld but it just forms big surface bubbles so abandoned the project and left it up on my friends hoist!
Now it's Sunday, I don't have access to the van to trace the path of the part, and I'm not sure what the part is called...Ford seem to be secretive about parts diagrams here in the UK, and all pictures of the 1.8Tdci engine on the Web are taken from the front (dip stick) side.
I can't find a parts diagram or picture of the rear (back) of the engine to start the parts quest...can anyone here help please!
It seems as though the item may well have been weak and or pin holed and then burst from the Holts Additive chemistry and subsequent sudden re-pressuration of the system achieved by fitting the new main radiator. The van is at the garage up on the hoist 5 miles away...And is going to be in their way when they open up on Monday morning!!!
Best,
Andy
