There is some very interesting reading on extended warranties and the psychology behind them that drives our actions. If you're interested.
Bottom line: Seldom a real reason to consider them. I have a 16 with 50k that's never had a single issue of any kind.
Sure a transmission could go out and you'd spend that much. But you'd just be paying for it up front.
Whether you ever use it or not. And don't forget there are 100 ways to weasel out of part of the service bill for them.if its been maintained (oil changes), then relax and enjoy it. And do the tranny service drain.
