Screwing into seat belt pillar ok?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

This may be a silly question but I've googled and been unable to find a proper answer, apologies in advance for being a noob!

I'm wanting to extend the overhead shelf in a connect high top 08 to just past the seating area.  The easiest option to do this looks like some L brackets into the pillar above the seat belts.  There's an indent directly above the seatbelt mechanisms trim which is where I'd like to drill into.

Is this ok or am I damaging the integrity of the pillar (only be a few 4/5mm screws)?

I'm in the UK and don't want to do anything that it'll fail MOT over.

Thanks in advance guys!
