Electric Window Conversion

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys!

Been on the road for about 6 months. Picked up my first car (Van) for £750, it's an ex-Royal Mail 2006 TC. I think it has retrofitted Central Locking or at least the fob doesn't look like a genuine ford key fob.

I've already changed the trans mount and alternator (with the help of this forum) after both parts were busted, pretty proud of my self. Been using the forum quite a lot without signing up, so thought it was about time I came to say hello.

I've never really been "a car guy" as my background is in IT and computers but since I've had the van It's been non stop searching for improvements and mods to make!

The next job I want to undertake is retrofitting electric windows and I'm just looking for advice really.

I've seen universal electric window kits that slip over the window winder gear and spin it electrically, however, after taking the door card off today I'm not sure there will be enough space for the motor to sit comfortably between where I mount it on the door and the card itself.

Has anyone had any experience with these and know whether they would fit? Or any advice on picking up an electric kit from a different model of TC and fitting myself?

I've got no experience with wiring a car so the kits seem like the easiest option with a fuse tap but maybe it's just as easy to get the wire if you know what to get!

Thanks for reading!

Clueless newbie.
