JGarver
My name is Justin Garver and I am a national accounts manager with ASA Electronics' Commercial Vehicles Division. We are the manufacturers of Jensen Heavy Duty commercial vehicle stereo systems, as well as Voyager Commercial Grade Camera Systems. We ARE NOT Jensen mobile, which manufactures for passenger cars. We are a completely separate company that engineers, designs, manufactures, and warrants all of our equipment to be use in commercial (fleet) vehicles. Typically these cars take more abuse, so we design our equipment with conformal coated circuit boards, reinforced resistors, etc., etc. Anyways, I have mentioned this before, but I am performing a test install on our mail company's TC on Tuesday the November 16th. I wanted to get as much feedback from current TC users about what they think about the upgrade package we are going to be producing specifically for a TC. These things were built for commercial use so a flashy stereo wasn't included by Ford which is understandable, but the common theme is, the stereo is not capable. So, please check back on Tuesday afternoon to take a peek at the install, and let me know what you think about our little package. Anybody who is willing to help me with feedback I will work on getting a discount code or some sort of goodies to. Thanks
JGarver
So, no installation photos available. Installation went about as bad as it could go using the removal keys from Metra. Not only did I have trouble with that, but my hands are all cut up from how paper thin they have to be to fit into the radio slots. They seemed to lock in and depress the clips to remove the radio, but not far enough to pull the unit out. I took the thing to a VW dealer to try to get them to get it out, and they couldn't either. So, brought it back to our shop, took the dash apart and got it out that way. Once out, I noticed that the cause of the problem was only the top two clips. We must have bent them with our first attempt, and it made it pretty much impossible to release the spring clips after that. Oops, that's why it's a test install. So after that, we mount our radio in with the Metra universal install kit, and since we manufacture our radio to our own particular specs, the trim kit does not fit over the face of our radio. I am going to schedule another day with the install kit where we will custom fit a trim piece and install our blind zone camera system. So it looks like we will have to be tooling our own custom install kit for our system since the universal ones are not for us. Fun day all around. rlschow
Hrrmm. I used the keys that came with a Scosche dash kit and the factory radio popped out with a minimum of fuss. Also loaned the keys to somebody else who didn't report any trouble removing his radio. Maybe Metra's keys aren't quite right?
