Quality Control Issue

Hello TC owners,

Found a problem yesterday and thought I'd pass it on.

I removed my rear brake lense to fish wires up into the van for speakers and found a wad of putty gooped up on the brake light assembly.

The putty was placed over the OEM gaskets which is concerning to me...is there a leak issue that Ford is aware of and this is a quick fix? If water gets in there behind the lights, there is no place for it to go...and since wires and your brake harness are in the same pocket, that worries me. Future issues may occur including rust and the brake lights may not function...I really don't believe that Ford will cover this issue in 5 years when I start having issues.

It only takes a few minutes to check your lights....let me know if anyone else out there sees the same thing. This needs to be checked into. I don't know about you, but craftmanship and longevity are important to me.

JK

I am experiencing a leak originating from the overhead brake light. If I'm parked so that water pools up around it, I get water dripping from the inside back dome light. Haven't had it checked out yet. Will post an update as soon as I get it serviced.

I noticed my hood isn't aligned today. Not as serious as a water leak, but annoying none the less. About 1/8" to the left at the front when facing the hood. Obvious gap difference on the sides. I'm guessing there is some adjustment range at the hinges.

Have you check it out? As I experiencing same leak today when it was heavy rainfall.

Turns out there was a service bulletin regarding the leaking seal on the top brake light. They performed the prescribed repair with a kit ordered from Ford and I haven't had a problem since. All, of course, done under warrantee. I wouldn't wait too long, the issue could short out the interior dome light.

I had the same issue. Took it to the dealer and they could not duplicate and they knew nothing of the service bulletin. They kept it for two days and could not find a leak, despite my picture of the leak when it occurred. I will not 'out' the dealer, but my disappointment with their service dept really makes me distrust them with other issues.

As a followup, called another dealer. They found the service notice, orderded the parts and called the next morning to tell me the parts were in. Dropped it off the following morning at 8 am and they delivered it to me, fixed, by 10:30 am

The notice had been posted since 2/10, so the first dealer never looked it up, nor made any real effort it would appear.
