***Help with door ajar bypass***

Recommended Posts

Wiring-manual-only answer:

Ground is always black.

Front left/US driver's Ajar wire is Black/Yellow. Right/pass is Black/Blue. Left rear slider is Black/Orange. Right rear slider is Black/Green. The Ajar switches for the sliders are inside, behind the doors, at the height of the wheel wells.

For the swinging doors (front and back) the Ajar wire is always pin 8. I'm pointing this out because for the back door, unless the people writing the manual had a stroke, apparently every wire is black, so you'll have to go by position.

You are a life saver. Thank so much. And yeah, the rear are all black but have writing on them. Going to ask a dumb question, is that pin 8 at the lock? And I did see numbers on them.

Thanks for sending that diagram.  I've been trying to solve this for almost a year now.

Are we sure the wires should be grounded?  I pulled the switches for the sliding doors and they were normally closed.

I will test at the rear door by cutting the wire to pin 8 tomorrow.

I'm not sure of that, no. I've never had trouble with my door ajar detection and needed to mess with the wiring to bypass; I just have the shop manuals.

You can see in the diagrams that the switches are all labeled "Ajar", but the front door switches are shown closed and the sliders and rear are shown open. To me that implies that the rears should be grounded to read "closed", but it's possible the manual is wrong, or the shown position of the switch is not significant.

Hey! Could someone walk me through exactly how to do the grounding procedure one one door so I might better understand?

So for example: I open up the drivers side door. Fine the Front left/US driver's Ajar wire is Black/Yellow. I also find the the black ground.

Do I cut the yellow and black and tie in the ground to a specific side of it? Or, do I splice the ground into the still active yellow and black whire?

Thank you for your help!
