Hi everyone,
I have a 2010 Ford Transit Connect XLT Cargo Van and I’ve been reading a lot about transmission maintenance and potential longevity issues with these vans.
Some owners have mentioned servicing the transmission around 130,000 km (~81,000 miles) and even using some kind of “refresh kit” or rebuild kit that supposedly extends the transmission life another 100,000 km or so.
I haven’t been able to find much solid documentation on this — only scattered comments in discussions and parts listings for rebuild kits.
My questions:
Has anyone here actually used a transmission “refresh kit” or rebuild kit on a 2010 - 2013 Transit Connect?
What did it include (filter, screen, clutches, solenoids, etc.)?
Did it noticeably extend the life of your transmission?
Where did you source the kit, and what was the cost/complexity like?
Do you recommend a fluid/screen service interval that works best for longevity?
I’m located in British Columbia, Canada, so I’m also interested in whether certain parts or kits are easier (or harder) to find here compared to the U.S.
I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone with first-hand experience. Trying to plan ahead and keep this van reliable for safe travel. Planning long trips across Canada.
Thanks very much in advance for your insights!
