I have the same problem. I have a 2016 Ford Transit Connect XLT Passenger Van also. The problem began a few years ago, and it has just gotten worse. When I back up, most of the time the screen turns mostly black and basically becomes unusable. It seems worse in the heat, but that is not always the case. I'll attach some photos of the display I took when it was acting up.
