  1. Thanks for your help Don. I've noted your advice ! Yes I'm aware that the rated current carrying capacity is different for automotive and I'm following the cable manufacturers specs in relation to cable length runs and protective fusing. I intend to post some pics and info on my mods. I have been successful in removing a lot of the interior trim and now know where the trims clips and mounting points are concealed. I have not yet broken a trim clip or damaged any of the plastics so its going well so far.... Cheers !
  2. I'm starting my mods (some of the 17 modifications by Don Ridley) now the weather here is warmer and dry... My question relates to preferred colours. I'm ordering some parts shortly and wonder if I should pick a colour like Green/White to identify my after market wiring or bother to replicate OEM colours. I'm using BLK for GRND and obviously RED or BROWN for heavy feeds direct from the Battery Bus Bar. I work as an Electrician but not an Auto Electrician so understand the importance of identifications. Any guidance from you experts would be gratefully received....
  3. Just spotted this post ! I'm UK based and recently bought some mats with the location socket included. My connect had no pins either so I asked the supplier to throw in some retro pins / studs to fit my self. It involved lifting out the floor covering which I was doing anyway for another project so they could be inserted and fixed from underneath. Its a bit of a faff and I've no idea why Ford don't include them as standard.... I can post a picture of the studs later ?
  4. Thanks Don ! Yes I think I will go for this option to avoid possible future issues....
  5. Thanks for your prompt reply. These are stand-alone LED spots from -> https://www.bltdirect.com/all-led-16mm-dia-1-watt-ip44-led-marker-light-warm-white-white-finish?adcid=pla&_intent=LOW&gclid=Cj0KCQjwr82iBhCuARIsAO0EAZyzuR5_hLfjkjHDrQe7yoDCbod84vTOPo7PLOLx8FyRfDvZ_L49c88aAl2bEALw_wcB They are designed to be operated from a driver although they are 12volt. I do have a 12volt constant current driver which operates from a 12v DC source but RS Components have discontinued the product. So I'm now wondering if I need one at all? My fear is if I connect direct to the 12 volt circuitry within the vehicle it'll just burn-out in short order?
  6. I'm adding LED map reading type lights in the overhead console. I understand a driver or current limiting resistor is required to prevent burn-out and current run-away with LED lamps. Anyone done this or has knowledge of a driver ?

    Hello from UK

Hello - thanks for replying. I have a kit from Revcam.uk with a rear-view mirror type clip over monitor and a CMOS camera. I intend to tap into the existing wiring harness to access the trigger wire (reversing lamp) and will find somewhere a permanent live (or a live which is load-shedded from the Body control Module). There is no display header unit on my model - as I say its a very basic ex-lease van which only has Fords own basic (poor) radio. Where the header unit is on current models is just a cubby hole. One irritating point is that my Connect appears not to have a CCP. I also intend to install a small inverter which will need to be fed from the battery-box mounted busbar via the Mid-Fuse bank. I know the grown-up Transit has a CPP under the driver seat. Although I am not an auto-electrician I am a qualified installation electrician to BS7671 18th Edition so am aware of the electrical design considerations regarding cable sizing, volt-drop and protection etc.. However any advice from you guys would be most appreciated. PS - the approach lights which activate every time a door is opened is bloody annoying. I've already flattened the battery with this stupid feature. I believe the only way to fix it is to reprogram the BCM with FORSCAN.

    Hello from UK

I'm a new member and this is to introduce myself. I have a Connect L1 H1 Duratorq 1.6. It's an early 2016 model in Frozen White and has a very basic spec.... Currently fitting additional interior lighting and reversing camera. I undertake my own servicing and have become quite familiar with the vehicle over the last 4 years. I have pictures of my work which will hopefully be of use to other members. Thank you for letting me join and I look forward to sharing helpful information.
