  1. Hello everyone! I've got a problem with my 2011 T230L 90DPF 1753cc diesel 5 speed manual gearbox transit connect... it suddenly is not going into reverse gear. All the other gears engage fine and i had no weird sounds coming from the gear box before or after this started. I noticed that when i let the car roll back a bitt it does engage reverse but when i have moved forward it locks and i can not get the shifter in reverse. I also noticed that (sometimes not always) when the engine is off i can select reverse and as soon as i start the engine it locks up again. I've tried the following: dubble clutch has no effect and i've changed the transmission fluid (it was black but no filings or such) also no effect. the car has ran 164.000 km and has just got his clutch replaced around 14.500 km ago and the shifter cables have been replaced shortly after (about 1000 km after the clutch). i haven't looked at the gearbox selector yet but as it is engageing freely when i roll back and i dont have problems with first gear i dont think that that is the problem. i could only find one guy with simmilar problem on the internet but his sollusion was a clutch replacement. but as i already recently had this replaced i am at a loss... i have asked a friend of mine who is a car mechanic what he thinks it could be and he said it was most likely the synchromesh rings in the gearbox, but as i did some research i discovered that the reverse gear in this gearbox does not have synchromesh rings (Please correct me if i'm wrong!). i am not a trained car mechanic but i am a trained airplane mechanic so its not that i have no clue what i'm doing ? but i could really use some pointers in the right direction beause i'm at a loss right now.. Ohh and btw i am in hungary now and i am dutch and do not speak hungarian so as you could understand going to a mechanic is a bitt more difficult... i would love to hear what you guys think! Thanks in advance!!
  2. Please help. My 2015 Transit Connect is clunking really hard when I go from park to reverse or drive. Then once it’s in gear, it stays in only one gear (feels like 3rd). See video. anyone else have this problem or does anyone know what’s wrong? My warrantee is expired. Vehicle has 80,000 miles. IMG_9629.MP4
  3. Hi, I’m looking for some help here. My work van, 2014 2.5L TC transmission gave out last week. Ive been looking for a used transmission to buy. I’m having a hard time finding a transmission from a 2014 that is worth it. Will a 2016 or 2017 TC transmission work in a 2014? Are all 2.5L Transit connect model years transmissions the same? Will any 6f35 transmission work for a 2014 Transit connect? Thanks for your help!
  4. My Transit Connect XL is only two months old with about 1400 miles, and on two separate occasions it would not go into reverse although the shift lever was in reverse with the camera and reverse lights on. This vehicle has the 8 speed automatic transmission. The dealer where I bought the vehicle says there is no problem, although I am now taking it in for the second time. Has anyone heard of this happening.
  5. Greetings. New guy, here. I just bought a 2013, and, it must be freshest example in North America: 4900 miles. I bought from a dealer. I think the older folks that had it may have found it too lacking in luxury, and mostly kept it stored in a barn. Got 28.5 mph on the 230 mile trip home. I chose the Gen 1 for the extra inches of cargo head room. And, I like the looks. I have read a good bit of this forum over the past few months. Now, I have 3 questions, 2 of which are not well addressed in the owner manual: 1) My TC has SYNC, with the button pod below the turn signal control. The icons for phone and seek actions are unclear to me. It seems to indicate that the entire control pod can be flipped up or down, like a turn signal, or, maybe that the entire control can be moved forward and back, like a headlight dimmer. But, when I test these actions, it seems like too much force would be required, and would risk breaking something that may NOT be designed to move. What am I missing, here? 2) Locking the vehicle, to walk away... I can do this with the key remote. Or, I can do this with the key inserted in the lock. What I can not figure out, is how to flip the interior lock switch at the opener lever, to walk away. That lock switch seems to allow lock and unlock of all doors, while sitting in the van, only. If I'm standing outside the van and flip the lock switch, it just switches itself back to unlock position. What am I missing, here? 3) Knowing the transmissions are the weak point of the Gen 1, I will plan on doing regular fluid changes. Would like to buy a new transmission pan for $30, and have a petcock drain added to it, ready for an initial filter and fluid change. Petcock to allow easier container and measurement of fluid drained, over simply a drain plug. I think some here have done pan drains, so, what type of petcock drains have been added, and what location on the pan works best? I would not want to mod a pan, only to find out the drain is in an inappropriate position for something inside. Thanks a lot!
  6. Recently I took my Transit to a mechanic to swap my engine, when he removed the engine he said I might need a new transmission. Notice the hole in the bell. He sent me the attached photos. My question is where did this piece come from and can I simply replace the broken part?
  7. Hi everyone, I have a 2013 Ford Transit Connect that won't shift into 3rd gear. Just 1 month ago it was not shifting into 4th gear and had a check engine light. The mechanic connected the computer and said the code was p0172, "air fuel mixture too rich" and that may be the cause of the tranny acting up. I replaced the oxygen sensor, tranny oil and filter, spark plugs, fuel injectors, mass air flow sensor, and air filter. The TC drove great for 2 weeks. Than one day, all of a sudden, while driving on the highway the tranny started acting up again. Now instead of not shifting to 4th gear it wasn't shifting to 3rd and had a p0772 code "solenoid e stuck on" I had all solenoids changed but still not working right. It accelerates fine and it goes from 1st to 2nd beautifully then it slips and doesn't catch 3rd. Very frustrating, I don't know what else to do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  9. Hello 2012 ford transit connect 115k miles yesterday I started having an issue with my car revving high, unable to reach high speeds, and shifting only up to 2nd gear. Took to a mechanic and they diagnosed a full rebuild Of the transmission, estimated at 3000$. They pulled codes P0571 and P0972 which are associated with this TSB bulletin. https://www.tsbsearch.com/Ford/14-0002 I was wondering if this seems a reasonable price for the work? Also if anyone has had a similar issue and had a cheaper work around? I do not have the tools or knowledge to change it myself and the shop said they don’t do parts a customer brings in due to liability issues. thanks in advance for all the info and help.
  10. I’ve got a 2013 Transit Connect that the transmission recently started acting up. It looks to need replacing so I’ve been looking for a transmission to put in it. I see that the Ford Focus has the same transmission so I was wondering if it’s a direct swap out. I can’t find much info online about it other than they share the same model number (4f27e). Is the gearing the same in them? If they are basically the same unit, will I have to tow it to a dealer to program something in the ECM? I have someone that can do the swap but he doesn’t have anyway to program anything into the computer if that’s required. I’ve seen on here people talking about putting a manual in the TC and while I would love that, I’m not looking for that involved of an install so I’m going to stick with an auto. Any insight to this would be greatly appreciated.
  11. I have a 2010 Ford Transit Connect XLT that came with a flower shop we bought last December. It has an automatic transmission, 2.0 gasoline engine and 112,000 miles on the car. The transmission fluid has never been changed. I called the dealer where it was purchased and he looked it up by VIN number and said I have the 150k miles transmission fluid in my model. I know a good deal about cars and personally I change my trans fluid every 60k miles, so I know it's a crap shoot to change this fluid at this mileage. The fluid is still red, not gritty and smells fine. Any advice on changing this fluid? I would do it myself with Ford fluid by taking off the trans line and letting the transmission pump out old fluid and then add new fluid in. That way there is no pressure on the system... i.e. not doing a power flush.
  12. Hi Transit Connect Team, New member here. With my past vehicles forums and the local community has been a life saver. Hope you can help me also. I have been shopping for a Transit Connect Passenger LWB Van as a hybrid for persoal and business use. It seems perfect for family road trips and to haul furniture/appliances for my family's real estate business. I found a used 2016 Transit connect with ~$61k miles (just out of power train warranty). Had the car checked out and overall the car looks good but I found a small leak on the bottom of the car and wanted to get the forums thoughts on if this is something I should run away from. Below I attached a picture. The leak seems small and the color looks brown but I am worries that leak could be from the transmission which I read could be nightmare on the TCs. Also not sure if this is large or small concern for these vehicles. Also notice oil on the top of the engine by the spark plugs. Did not get a picture but the mechanic said that it did not concern him. Any guidance and thoughts are much appreciated. Also anything else I should consider or be in the look out for as I do my research? Thanks Team! MJ
  13. Hi there! Recently, my car had transmission failure. It has less than 60000 but over the 5 year guarantee period by a month. My car was fixed by a 3rd party. I found out that Ford had issued earlier a technical service bulletin acknowledging that the 2010-2013 transit connect may exhibit an upshift flare or lack of 3rd and or 4th gear along with burnt automatic transmission fluid. They have a direct clutch repair kit available to address these concerns. I feel that Ford should have informed me of this issue so I can have it fixed before my guarantee was over. Also, the NTSA has recalled several 2013 models with the same transmission failure issue. Unfortunately, Transit Connect is not among them. Has anybody in this forum had the same problem with the transmission?

  15. I am having a harsh shift from the transmission after driving for a short period of time at highway speeds and starting up an incline, the rpm's drop and the speeds drops, I will push on the gas feed to either speed up or to maintain speed and this is when the transmission down shifts, it is a hard thunk, and jerks a little, but there are times that the transmission down shift properly, nice and smooth.
  16. We replaced the original trans with an OEM trans. Is there a relearn process to complete? The trans is in "limp" mode, the speedo is not working and the code we're getting is PO720.
  17. My work recently purchased a second hand 2011 Transit Connect (Gas-Powered US Model) with approximately 70K miles. It has blown the transmission after something like 6 months and < 10k miles traveled (the Ford tech pulled the transmission oil pan and it was filled with metal shavings). I would like to purchase a replacement transmission and potentially install it myself. I have the following questions: There are seperate parts listings for "From 1/17/11" and "Thru 1/16/11" - what is the difference? According to what I've read the transmission should be this transmission - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_4F27E_transmission Is there a model year difference? In that same train of thought, it seems that the Ford Focus 03-11 uses the same transmission, are they completely interchangeable? The powertrains seem to be vastly similar. Finally, is there anything I can do to extend the transmission life on this vehicle? It seems as if the engine/transmission were designed for fairly low loads and light usage, but we're using it as a work van to carry tools/ladders (nothing super-heavy, but non-trivial amount of weight and drag from roof-rack ladders). I briefly considered a manual transmission swap, but would a transmission cooler help? Thanks in advance.
