  1. Hello smallWill_Lifting. As I replied, and G B L confirmed, your mph/revolutions are correct. Did you just get the Transit Connect? C1137 is the trouble code for the reverse gear switch. U0402 is the trouble code for invalid data received from the transmission control module (TCM). Since, except for the trouble codes, your 2012 Transit Connect seems to be operating correctly, I would clear the codes and see if they come back. Let us know.
  2. 70mph at 2900RPM, that is what mine does in 4th gear. When you press the 4th gear lockout button on the shifter, what happens?
  3. Ok Fifty150 I will start off the replies. First Generation Transit Connect. Use my Ford dealer. Every 3,000 miles. Same price as the lube/oil shops. Includes the multi-point inspection and rotates the tires and a van wash and checks for OBDII fault codes.

Hello dotmaster206, As I have written before, a lot of talk about turbo's and manual transmissions on this forum the past 6 years, but only one member, sunnysmith, actually added a turbo to his existing engine. Your project is far past what he accomplished. There will be many forum members that will be waiting for each of your updates!!!! Good Luck!
  5. Hello AXN-RXN. Nice tutorial on how to add a roof rack to the second generation Transit Connect. It is amazing how Ford went from a small commercial van with roof rack mounting positions including threaded metal inserts, to the second generation mini-van with plugs in the roof. What was the thinking? In order to interest "soccer mom's" in the new mini-van they seem to have forgotten how the Transit Connect started out as a commercial van. It seems to have worked for Ford. The second generation is a big seller, out selling the first generation by a large margin. Must be because of the "soccer mom's".
  6. The front wipers on my 2010 slowed down to a crawl. I removed the wiper arms (you need a puller) and the upper cowl panel grilles to find out the issue. One of the grommets on one side of the linkage had split and the linkage was binding. The motor was still good ( I stopped using the wipers before the extra strain on the motor caused it any damage) so I intended to just replace the linkage and first priced a replacement on eBay. I then went to my Ford dealer for their price. The price from Ford was cheaper then eBay. Ford sells just the linkage or a motor and linkage assembly. The weird thing is, the motor and linkage was cheaper then just the linkage! Of course I bought the motor and linkage. Replacing the motor and linkage became an adventure. To remove them you need to remove both upper cowl panel grilles AND the lower cowl panel which can be called the firewall right behind the engine. To remove the firewall, you need to remove the brake master cylinder/AC purge valves/battery junction box, all attached to the firewall. Factory time is 1.5 hours, good luck making that time!
  7. Fifty150, in response to your off-road lighting question, look at my Gallery, my latest (now a few years old) lighting system turns night into day. Six Hella lights, the largest running 100w H3 bulbs.

Hello kxrf, to get some of your questions answered, as per the 2010 Ford Wiring Diagrams (your 2013 should be the same), Powertrain Control Module (PCM)/Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module/Steering Angle Sensor Module/Instrument Cluster(IC)/Speech Recognition Module(SRM)/Audio Control Module(ACM)/Generic Electronic Module(GEM)/Restraints Control Module(RCM)/Tire Pressure Monitoring System(TPMS)Module/Occupant Classification System Module(OCSM) all have some CAN inputs/outputs. The microphone is analog into the SRM. The Parking Aid Sensors are not CAN and run into the PAM.
  9. Fifty150, why are you waiting for a Haynes manual? Just buy the Ford workshop manual and wiring diagram. Considering the amount of work you do on your vehicle, and the technical changes you design/implement, it is a good investment. They were the second item I bought for my Transit Connect (the first was to replace those ugly panels on the rear doors).
  10. Another change confirmed by G B L between the first and second generation Transit Connects. The dash lights in my first generation with DRL are not on during the day.
  11. Welcome kxrf. Good choice on choosing the first generation Transit Connect. There is a wealth of information in this forum on the first generation with postings back to 2009 starting with the 2010 model year. Enjoy finding out about your "new" vehicle!
  12. Prairie Pyro, Scan Gauge can monitor transmission fluid temperature. I never had any reason , but it will. Take a look in my Gallery for a picture of the Scan Gauge mounted in my Transit Connect.
  13. Torton, I second G B L's comment, VERY NICE! Did you every consider buying a used, low millage 2013 first generation Transit Connect for the additional headroom? Or was the length more important then the height? Keep the photo's coming!
  14. Fifty150, GB Resto is writing about his first generation 2012. Your second generation has different rear lighting .
  15. Prairie Pyro is correct. They make harnesses for dogs that click into the same spot the existing seat belt buckle attaches.

  17. The existing recall on door latches has been expanded to include additional Transit connects from 2014 to 2016. Ford will be notifying owners during the week of October 3rd.

  19. Fifty150, a pallet is not a worry in the second generation Transit Connect, there is not enough interior room between the rear wheels. Only the first generation has enough room.
  20. Hello kxrf. I have had to reset the TPMS twice in 5 years. The procedure in the owners manual worked both times. No magnets or other devices needed. Keep the forum updated on your Transit Connect search.
  21. Welcome, kxrf. Here are some of the answers I can supply. Other forum members can supply other answers.... "Higher" then usual auto trans failure rate-Wrong, no problem there. Rust concerns-Not to worry, no signs of rust from any forum members. We also have forum members from the European Union (EU) that have been driving Trans Connects for years longer then we have in the United States, no rust issues. No TPMA issues, although the choice of tire choices keeping with the correct load rating is small. Plenty of forum entries on what is available. As forum member mrtn has written, the first generation Transit Connect was a real workhorse (and he should know, being from the EU and owning multiple high millage Transit Connects). Good luck with your search.
  22. mrtn, nice recap of the Mk1 version. Beta Don, from the US introduction of the Transit Connect in 2010, the percentage of sales increase only went up every year through the change to the second generation in 2014. Ford needed to take the Transit Connect from a mostly commercial van market to something that would also appeal to personal users. They did not have a mini-van so that is what they created, a mini-van that could be used for both commercial and personal buyers, as the Dodge Caravan mini-van has been for years.
  23. I also thought about the rain flowing down the van to the road and the rain on the road being splashed up to the van. How about that for a path to ground?
  24. So much for the statement being in a vehicle in a lighting storm is safe because you are insulated from the ground by the tires!
