I don't care about top speed either and i have no difficulties passing people or merging into traffic , the things plenty powerful enough to handle everything i throw at it .  That's for the 2.5 Liter not sure about the new 2.0 Liter.

Never done that to any of my cars. BUT; More power AND better fuel consumption ?? Reread your high [middle] school  Physics and Chemistry books !  Power comes from burning fuel => you can have more power OR better fuel consumption - NOT BOTH.

Gideon got a reaction from TAZ in 2013 Ford Connect - Need more power *****HELP*****
Power comes from burning fuel. Simple physics: more power = less mpg's. Only thing I can suggest is keeping tire pressure at or SLIGHTLY(2-3 psi max) above specification. This should help reduce "rolling resistance".  Any higher psi will cause rapid tire wearout.
Don't know if possible, but some sort of streamlined front cover for your ladders may also help.

I've got a 2016 [xlt?] wagon bought in 2018. Pull a tent-trailer (approx 1200 lbs) in summer. No problems at all EXCEPT with Ford Customer NON-Service !! I would suggest to program the control unit to "Dark Mode" unless already done. Much easier on battery in our cdn climate.    You may also want to switch to '60' series tires from original '55' series.  Just remember fuel filler is on passenger side and do not open sliding door at fill-up.

Yeah, that tailgate latch is always in my mind. Something I'd never consider before is to make an opening in the liftgate and add a mechanical release with some sort of exterieur lock - just wishfull thinking for now.
No mechanical control is the result of "penny pinching" by manufacturers. They want the cheapest possible method and charge the max possible for it !!

Big problem with computerised controls: What training did the computer programmer have in mechanics ??  I'd hate to find out "in the middle of nowhere" that the software was  faulty,  hacked, or inappropriate !!

Welcome to ford's "Customer Service" ! I guess what they really mean is "the customer services our wallets" !!
My 2016 electricals seem DELIBERATELY designed to force people to go to dealers for ANYthing - and pay 'an arm & leg' for it.
Thats why I prefer less gadgets and gizmos in my car - at least from the factory !

As best as Irecall, hitch weight when towing a trailer should NOT exceed 10% of tow weight. IE: 2000lb tow limit = 200lb hitch wt limit.
And as someone else pointed out, if you're hanging all the weight above & behind the hitch, the allowed weight is cut in half !

What about a lower-cost cargo model and get it repainted by a reputable shop ??

Something like this should have been under warranty or safety-recall.  Although I'm canadian, I would have yelled for the NHTSA to get involved !!

And god help you if you have a "smart speaker" or such at home. Their mics are ALWAYS  ON, to hear-record-and pass on any & every thing !!
My opinion: If a company is going to make money with MY personal info, then they should pay me for that priveledge !!

Yes, load rating IS important. BUT you can always reduce the weight of all the 'junk' that ends up accumulating in our cars.  Even standard (factory installed) tires can be destroyed by overloading the car.  My 7-seat TC has never yet had a load equal to 7 people in it.

Gideon got a reaction from OLDSCHOOLFOOL in TPMS question
Generally prices here in Canada are higher than USA. That said, I have no problem using old-fashioned hand tire gauge and simply ignoring the TPMS warning in dash.

Gideon got a reaction from mrtn in Help me decide
mrtn;   NAFTA (or the new version of it) applies to commercial import/export.  Private individuals need to deal with Canada Customs, Federal AND Provincial tax depts., and provincial licensing rules.  A BIG "PITA" !!

Sgsf12:  to the best of my limited knowledge, all transit-connects were imported as 'passenger' models to avoid the US "chicken tax". They were/are then stripped at a US plant and the removed parts are reused.
If you plan on converting to a minicamper, then your final choice is probably the best idea.
