  1. Very nice! I like the red, not many of that color out there. Psst, don't tell the wife, but they make lowering spring for it!
  2. Thanks @Beta Don & @G B L. The info and pics are very helpful!
  3. Thanks @Beta Don, I had not considered stowing of the receiver... or the weight. From the pictures it looks like the class 2 is about a 1/2" recessed from the bumper edge. Is that the case? Also, how much drop/rise do you have on your hitch? Thanks!
  4. As if most intersections don't have enough visual noise already. Man, I already cringe when I get to those type of intersections on my motorcycle. Now I have to pay attention to the different rules for bicycles, pedestrians, and turning lanes before I can even look for the idiots that don't follow the rules. Good luck convincing a cop that the bicycles light was red... Sorry, just had to vent.
  5. It is a 2018, Gen 2 Cargo. thanks for the feedback! I am leaning towards the Class 3. Just want to check with the members first, to make sure I know if there are any issues.
  6. I am trying to decide which version of the Curt hitch to get and I thought I would get some input from those that have one. The class 3 has the 2" receiver which I like for a couple of reasons. One reason is that I have a couple of 2" hitches. The second reason is most bike racks, etc are 2". However, the class 2 looks like there is more room for spare tire removal, appears to have more ground clearance and doesn't stick out from the bumper as much. Obviously, I wont need more towing capacity than the class 2, since its more than the TC capacity, FYI, I'm planning on towing a small light trailer (<800 lbs). So here are my questions for those that have a Curt hitch. Does your class 3 scrape on driveways, etc? Is the tire clearance an issue? Have you hit it with your shins?
  7. That is strange! Just a wild guess here. The tranny might being trying to shift unsuccessfully. Maybe a hanging solenoid. Have you check for trouble codes?
  8. They may have gone to clip system like the full sized Transit. I found this with Google. https://www.fordtransitusaforum.com/threads/removing-armrests.23921/
  9. I hit some road debris, and got a flat tire on my 2018. To my surprise, the spare tire has the Euro spec silver paint. Nice and glossy and certainly thicker than the thin coat of black on the road wheels that turns to rust in a couple of years. I know how thin it is, since I painted my road wheels white and busted through the black a couple of time with just a light sanding. Just thought I would share.
  10. That could make the effort and cost worth it!
  11. Well I was sort of sitting out on this thread, but I feel like I need to throw my 2 cents in and perhap save you a lot of effort and some money. Just to remove the factory hitch is a pain (unless you just like wrenching) Then you will have to find (junk yard) or fabricate a support structure. A new one is ridiculously priced. You would be way better off to just by a lightweight tow behind trailer. You could just get a cheap dedicated motorcycle trailer and save a lot of money and effort. Personally, if you are only hauling a Grom (ps. I totally dig those!), I would by a lightweight utility trailer with a ramp. That would give you the ability to haul other stuff, and pack extra camping gear next to the Grom. Here is one from Northern Tool. Good luck with whatever you decide!
  12. Thanks @Eddy Kilowatt. That was helpful.
  13. Thanks @Osco. That's very helpful!
  14. i agree with @G B L. Construction workers love their industrial strength boom boxes. They are tough, relatively water resistant and really don't sound too bad. Any home improvement store will have them Home Depot, Lowe's, etc. You could simply make a holder to sit it in and attach it to a wall and run a 12v plug to your outlet.
  15. @i86hotdogs Check out this post. There is a video of the sound of the 2.5 motor in a Focus with different exhausts. It might help you find the sound you want. https://fordtransitconnectforum.com/topic/6236-great-sounding-mufflers/?tab=comments#comment-20020
  16. I have thought about lowering just the rear as well. If you do, please send us a pic!
  17. Most members that have switched from the Conti's have been happier. I would definitely look around and see what is available in your area.
  18. You my friend are in a unique position to let us know how the smaller motor REALLY performs. Please let us know if you miss the 2.5 or if the new transmission makes it all good. PS. Love the red!
  19. I had the same problem with mine. But, I simply put light gray floor mats in mine and they reflect enough light that I can see dropped items now. But lights would be cool!
  20. @desert_connect that rocks! I will look at your build thread for more info. Nicely done!
