Thanks for the reply Fifty150. I took all of the side panels off in front of the belt and found this ratchet socket jammed between the frame and belt roll. I looked it up, and it is the same brand they use at the Ford factory. I removed it and belt is like new. Pretty good outcome:)

PhotoAl reacted to STAGEO in 2019 TC Crash Safety: Practical Application
I was recently involved in a crash in my 2019 TC, a car lost control and drifted into my lane. We struck, my van went into a spin, hit the embankment and rolled into the ditch striking the treebank. The van was inverted. All airbags deployed, though my seatbelt came loose by itself. My wife was still tethered in her seat upside down. I unbuckled her and we were able to crawl into the cargo bay and out of one of the barn-doors that opened on impact. This van saved our lives. We walked away from the damage you see with superficial injury. Though I'm not thrilled about my seatbelt malfunction this shows how durable this vehicle is in a crash. The van is a total loss, but we're alive.

I want to share pics of my 2010 TC with Mk2 TC wheels on it. They bolt up perfectly. Same hub and offset specs. I feel they suit the boxy design perfectly. Have gotten allot of complements too.

Now that is a worthwhile change!  My Volt had a little dash top cubby with a 12V outlet.  Very handy for charging the phone or powering a Garmin/TomTom or Radar Detector (seriously who would have or need one in a Volt :-)  )We use the TC for long trips and that would be so nice.

Yes, it's a Weathertech BumpStep. It works well as a step, but I like it in case someone bumps into me, which has happened on my other vehicle and saved my rear door from getting smashed in. I also have the wider version called BumpStep XL (24" wide), but it was interfering with my back-up sensors, this BumpStep 12" wide one doesn't.

Loading and unloading in the rain (or hot sun) I wouldn't have anything other than the lift gate

But, the real reason for me was . . . . I drove a cargo van with the cargo doors and never did get used to the restricted visibility from the inside rear view mirror.  I know it doesn't bother everyone, but I would never get used to it

Take it easy.  You're putting to shame, all of us who have owned our vans for years, and haven't done a thing.

With this post and the one I posted in brakes/suspension not getting responses I will just post updates to my build here. Feel free to move mods.

Raised the front seats with 2” delrin spacers that my friend helped make since he’s significantly better at machining than I am and I’ve been crazy busy, sub under drivers seat, added the 2nd row single seat, A/T tires (215/65/16 Falken - Wildpeaks) and rebuilt the false floor with an access hatch (same friend helped chop the legs and make the adjustable feet).

I wanted to reclaim the space under the false floor and it needed to be strong enough to put motos in. We used the stock L bracket that the original floor was bolted to and dropped it down so that the new floor is flush to the rear and also bolts into said L bracket. Using pocket screws I attached a front piece so things don’t go in or out the front of the floor area. I didn’t put it under as there is more than enough support using the extrusion and it gave me a little more space.

I figured out the stock rear strut length and am in the process of building some shocks.  Hoping I can pull the stock strut soon to dyno match the compression curve so I can install it once and have a great tune.  Going with an air shock to be able to pump it up when hauling a moto and/or other gear for trips and take air our when not hauling heavier loads.  I also ordered the TEMA 30mm spacer kit.

I did a few other small things but I’ll stop boring myself.  Here’s some pics.

Greetings! This is my first post being new to the forum (technically 2nd as I posted this in the Brakes/Suspension category) and van ownership but have been scouring the forum since I purchased it a few weeks ago.
A few weeks ago I bought a 2018 Transit Connect Cargo LWB 2.5L with 16,5xxx miles and I can't believe it took so long to get myself a van! I live in California and regularly ride mountain bikes and surf and it is so convenient to not have to take my gear out of the van all the time or be worried about my gear if I grab food or go into the store for something.  I will eventually build it out for trips/camping but I need the storage for a bit so for now I have:

    Added hitch and bike rack
    Added drapes
Put sound damping material everywhere except the floor and above the headliner (for now) have 2 more boxes to add
A few cargo nets for simple storage
New speakers/tweeters (thanks Donridley for speaker post/how remove door panels)
    Cop center cap conversion haha
Added keyless entry pad (crucial for riding or surfing to not have to bring my keys) - For my 2018 I used P/N - KB3Z-14A626-A - took awhile to figure out how to program but worth the 30 minutes it took

    Coming soon:

Remove false floor, add 2nd row single seat from 60/40 split and rebuild false floor with hatch to access storage on the side where there isn't a seat (1st saw Mikechell and Donshockley's posts - thanks guys!)
Adding a sub under drivers seat and bringing seats up 2" (thanks to Kevinrollin for adding bolt length and spacer post) - I've been super busy so my friend helped me (plus he's an actual machinist) and made 2" x 2" delrin spacers and got the right bolts
Larger A/T tires for clearance and in hopes to not get stuck

This leads me to my question regarding the rear shocks - does anyone know the eye to eye length and mounting hardware width and bolt diameter?? It seems the MK1 and MK2 rear shocks are different as MYK has MK1 and MK2 specific rears - is this correct?
My coworker made some rears for his MK1 so I have a dyno curve to match and I've searched but can't find any info..I want to make some shocks and don't want to have to pull my shocks and then make some.

Thanks for any insight into this and thank you all for your all your various posts and information as it has been invaluable!

I hit 250k miles about a month ago so I thought I'd update the group.  Still dead reliable but I FINALLY had to do brakes on it.  Well I had to do one side of the rear brakes, the other side still had life and since I was doing the rears I went ahead and did front rotors and pads but they could have gone another 100k, not even joking haha!  Did another windshield in the spring but otherwise this thing just doesn't quit.  I should do shocks as it does slam over some things now but its really not that bad and not 'floaty' at all.  Lastly I noticed a couple weeks ago that when I put the van into reverse the rear sensors turn themselves off after a couple seconds but I feel like its doing me a favor as I almost always turned them off haha!

Covid slowed down my mileage pretty good but I still did 50k in the last year.  I worked from home for about 5 months but I was going riding on my dirt bike, mountain biking, etc quite a bit so I still drove a lot.  Somewhat sad to say but now my TC has been relegated to weekend/utility use. I picked up a passat diesel because I know that I can only be this lucky for so long with it and I am piling miles on again so I'd be at 300k by spring or so.  I wanted to make the move before I had down time for repairs as that is a huge PITA for me and how busy I am.  I'll save about $4k a year in fuel too so that will be super nice.  I plan to keep the TC for a while since it's worth about $7 with all the miles and its still super useful to me.  I still get comments all the time about how cool it looks and stuff and its really still in very good shape other than all the rock chips on the front.

Mine's done it. Knee down to depress the seat bottom then pull the latch. It's engaged, but not fully in at the floor at the moment if it's like mine. My 98b wife showed me the trick when I got frustrated.

PhotoAl reacted to Charlie722 in My 2017 Transit Connect Wagon was an excellent choice1
I was looking for an alternative to a SUV, CUV, and minivan to replace my aging Ford Freestyle SEL, and then I found this Ford Certified lightly used 2017 Transit Connect Titanium Wagon LWB at a local Ford dealership. It fits the bill perfectly! Incredibly roomy for both passengers and cargo, handles nimbly, adequate acceleration, smooth ride, and way more fuel efficient than other vehicles with even less usable interior room. The Titanium interior trim and options are quite upscale -- mine has the middle row bucket seats and offers great room and easy access for four adults plus a good amount of cargo area with the third row folded flat. During the weekday it serves as my mobile office and can carry all of my test kits, files, laptop computer, and printer. On weekends I use it for camping trips and runs to the boat. It has even made Home Depot runs to carry home bulky items like appliances. The Synch3 system works well, but I did experience a failure of the APIM which took out that system that was fortunately covered under the warranty. The only other trouble experienced is that one day I went to drive it from home, and all electrical power was totally DEAD. It had to be towed to the Ford dealer to be resurrected (could not be jump-started by AAA), and the dealership never did figure out what caused it, but when they disconnected and reconnected the battery, the electrical system came back to life spontaneously. Due to these electrical issues, I decided to purchase the Ford Protect extended warranty for peace of mind for 100,000 miles. The only thing I miss is a remote opening and closing tailgate, but that is a small sacrifice of convenience.

    Regards from Lakeland, Florida,
    Charlie

I've got a replacement piece of mirror glass for the passenger side on a 2015. Mine had a tiny crack that I figured would eventually get bigger so got a replacement ahead of time. Then I ended up trading it in before I ever got around to repacing it. It's just sitting on the shelf taking up space. PM me an address and I'll send it.

Mine is the LWB Passenger. both rear(3rd row) seats removed already, and shelving replacing them. I May remove the 60% 2nd row seat also....not sure yet.
Planning on putting in a Work station w a small vise....for holding and rekeying locks etc.....not to mention power inverter and LED lighting etc.
I wanted a Passenger version cuz i didnt want a Tin-can traveling down the road with all the Noises etc that often come from it......Passenger is carpeted and a headliner etc....with Rear Heat/A/C....making my Office a lot more comfy!

WOW, when I haul my scooter I always put it in the center just in case something like that happens and the straps were to fail it would go between the seats.  I use multiple straps, one is a 3" belt and the other two 1.5"  for a scooter that weight about 250 pounds.  Good point about loose stuff in the back.  Hauling stuff always like to put heavy stuff down low.

PhotoAl got a reaction from Ralph Gould in Locating a Race Red Titanium....
Ive had good success with CarGurus web site.  I can set search criteria up to I believe nationwide.  It doesn't have all of the available TCs but can be a good tool.  If I find one I like on there then Id'll look at it with the Ford dealer inventory website.  To get different areas I chang the zip code I'm looking in.  There are other auto locator website out there as well.  I have a 2016 Titanium and have enjoyed the options.

Why do the dealers hide the TCs?  They don't care about selling them, big volume is selling F150s and SUVs and that is where they focus.  I've often thought if Ford pushed the TC wagon more there would be a lot more sales.
