I just installed a factory hitch yesterday, the plastic bumper comes off easy.  Remove the screws that you already did then start pulling the bumper off from the front near the wheels, all the clips will pop off.

Also if you need factory beam that will replace the hitch that is now under the bumper I have it for now until I take all my scrap metal to the scrap yard

dinocarsfast got a reaction from rpk3mp in Seat spinner/ swivel installed
I did it two years ago and probably dont still have the pictures but the biggest mistake that I made was the swivel that I bought was from a generic boat application and did not have a hole through the middle of the bolt so that I could run wires through it because this is the only reasonable way to avoid getting the airbag system wires cut when turning(wires for the seat occupancy sensor and buckle).  I had to then make a new center pin on a lathe and weld the two pieces together.

    After that it was pretty easy the steps were;

    1, Take the seat out
2, Temporarily weld the legs together so that the distances didnt change in the next step and so that it would all fit back to the van
3, Cut the legs off where I wanted the spinner to be
4, decide where to put the fulcrum of the spinner so that everything wold work then weld it back together with the swivel in place.

It took a good weekend of work and $600 would probably be a pretty good price for someone to do that much custom work.

The seat sliding rail has a sensor for when the seat is in the full forward position to deactivate the airbag, I thought about using this to deactivate the airbag if the seat is not facing forward but I never implemented this because I never really had time, but its an option.

If you dont have a good way to reset the airbag light dont forget to disconnect the battery before you remove the seat.

dinocarsfast got a reaction from i86hotdogs in Wheel Size Question
On that note "huge" or super wide tires wont help a car corner faster, in the same way the a solid axle or welded diff wont help it corner faster. LUDICROUS!

dinocarsfast got a reaction from i86hotdogs in Wheel Size Question
True if anyone thinks a big wing on the back is to help launch a rwd car faster they are very wrong! At the speed when a wing or spoiler is functional the torque available to the wheels is much less because of the higher transmission gear.  So it does little for straight line acceleration in a fwd or rwd car and only slows the car down at higher speeds.

But do I think having a big wing on the back of a street car is stupid? Yes I think its a waste of time regardless of if its a fwd or rwd car, mostly because it only causes higher fuel consumption and reduces the top speed.
  10. Thanks

I took a video today, so here you go ?

Also if anyone doesnt know what a webasto style heater is here is another link.  I chose it because the combustion chamber exhaust is outside the vehicle unlike a catalytic heater and the result is reduced moisture in the cabin

dinocarsfast got a reaction from doitdub in Resetting TPMS
That procedure works if you are rotating the tires, then it will know the front from the back because of the different tire pressure settings.

    But when I first installed snow tires on a spare set of rims I needed to perform the longer procedure that is as follows because of the new sensors;

    1) Make sure all tires are inflated to the vehicle’s recommended inflation pressures (found in the owner’s manual on the door placard).
    2) Turn the ignition switch to OFF then press and release the brake pedal.
    3) Turn the ignition switch from OFF to RUN (engine OFF) 3 times, ending in the RUN position. Do this within 10 seconds.
    4) Press and release the brake pedal.
    5) Turn the ignition switch back to OFF.
    6) Turn the ignition switch from OFF to RUN (engine OFF) 3 times, ending in the RUN position. Do this within 10 seconds.
    7) The horn should sound letting you know the vehicle has entered into TPMS relearn mode.
? Place the top of the TPMS triggering tool against the sidewall of the driver’s side front tire in the location of the valve stem. Press the left button, wait until the horn sounds, then press the right button to turn the tool off.
9.) Once the horn sounds, move on to the passenger side front tire and repeat the process. Each tire should only take 30 seconds or less.
    10) After the passenger side front tire has been learned, continue on to the passenger side rear tire and finishing with the driver’s side rear tire.
    11) You may now turn the ignition to OFF. If the horn does not sound, the sensors were learned successfully. If the horn sounds twice, then the process must be repeated because there was a malfunction.

If you dont have the TPMS triggering tool people say you can trigger each wheel by letting air out but I just bought the tool, its like $30 or something.

    I hope this helps

dinocarsfast got a reaction from jrm223 in Can I add OEM Cruise control to vehicle that came without it
I got the cruise control to work yesterday.  I did not need to replace anything but the steering wheel and I have a base cluster.  I previously used IDS version 101 and did not have any luck it had some bugs with reading the central configuration in my vehicle or maybe the problem was with vcm clone, idk. But with IDS version 109 it worked better. I was able to read the central configuration and it showed all the features but I still had problems downloading to the vehicle.  after editing it.

The way that I was able to successfully save the changes was to make the changes in the as-built file and upload that entire file from my computer.

If anyone would like more detail or I can send the .xml files directly contact me via private message.

I cant wait to drive this more now that I have cruise control and it only cost $60 ?

ok, so this is my only car, its my daily driver, my business vehicle, my camper etc etc
i have a regular job, as a mechanic, and i have my own business, https://foldaflame.com where we make portable flat packing fire pits and grills, for camping, overlanding, or just plain having fun.
i use this thing to go to events, carry product, pick parts up from manufacturer, etc, so it had to be a pretty versatile lay out for me, and this is the best i could come up with in regard to sleeping and storage, and also convertible storage for big hauls.
theres going to be more to come, hope you enjoy.

Not sure if what your trying to say is not clear or if what your trying to say is wrong but I believe the cargo vans are more expensive to import because of the 25% "chicken tax" on imported trucks. Because of this all cargo vans were imported as passenger vans then converted to cargo vans then the seats and windows were shipped back to the factory.

Keep in mind, the octane posted on U.S. pumps is the average of the MON method plus how it is meassured in Europe (RON method) divided by two. Look at the yellow sticker on the pump that displays the octane number. In little print under the octane number it shows R+M/2 as how the octane rating is calculated so 87 in the U.S. is not the same as 87 in Europe. RON method is used in Europe and is always higher than MON and the rating in the U.S.

If you are starting with a cargo van maybe this stuff would work well for the final layer on the floor. it is inexpensive and easy to install. It is easily replaced if damaged and easy to clean.  You can find various thickness and colors.
