Don Ridley got a reaction from mrtn in ELECTRICAL ISSUE: 2017 Ford Transit Connect Wagon Power Door Locks Windows; Driver, Passenger and Sliding Door Door Locks, and Driver Power Seat Controls are not working.
The TC wagona have a fuse box, auxiliary junction box (AJB), behind the louvered cover on the right rear of the vehicle. Here is one with the cover removed:

Depending on trim level, there will be fuses here for rear climate, power seat, front and rear door locks and the power plug above the AJB.
A 70 amp circuit from the battery junction box feeds the AJB. If you have lost power to all the above items, you may have blown the 70 A fuse. Check the fuses in the AJB first: F1 through F7. If they are OK we can talk about the 70 A fuse.

The BJB is on the front of the battery box.

Forscan is still available. You can get a free 2 month license or pay about $12 for a one year subscription. Paid license gets you technical support and you can join the forum.

Wifi adapters are not recommended for making configuration or programming changes. Get an OBDlink EX or BX (Bluetooth) so you don't rick bricking your vehicle. I leave my BX plugged into the OBDII port and check things with my cellphone when needed.

    Hey Don.

    GREAT NEWS.

Your input about the 70A fuse was spot on.  It is the blue wire on center.

I removed the cover near the front of the battery and found the fuses you indicated.  Absolutely the 70A fuse was blown.   I replaced the fuse and all the issues were now resolved.  Front and sliding door windows, driver power seat adjustments, power locks, rear camera and the fault errors on the screen were no longer there.

I really appreciate your wisdom and guidance.  Well done Sir!   Problem resolved.

So this isn't terribly helpful, but the only way to get a more accurate diagnosis (short of finding someone with this exact problem) is with the Emissions manual I don't have. Whether that means taking it to a shop, or buying that manual or access to its information yourself, or trying to get in contact with the previous owner to get more information about exactly how he bypassed the CEL during the EGR delete.

Without the manual, all we know is that the PCM doesn't like the voltage it's seeing from the EGR system. Whether that's the fault of the EGR, the PCM, the wiring between them, or some other part of the system I'm not familiar with is anyone's guess. On a quick google, you've got this guy saying he had a bad EGR valve, but then his new aftermarket EGR valve kept throwing the CEL because even in working condition it produced out-of-spec voltages. So replacing the EGR doesn't rule out that possibility, and the only thing you can really do on your own at this point without throwing more money at it is inspect the wiring.

Even if Forscan (or other OBDII live data) can show you EGR voltages, unless they're completely insane they won't mean much without the manual. Is it possible for your tech friend to help you come up with one?

So after just short of two months I finally received the rear disc brake spindles from the UK. It was roughly $100 for both the left & the right including the hubs as pictured and then roughly another $100 for shipping to the US from the UK using the third party forwarding service Skypax. So I am $200 into this rear disc brake conversion at this point with the first major piece to the puzzle in hand. I will probably just slowly try to acquire the remaining pieces & parts every few months as time and funds allow...I gave the spindles to a buddy of mine from work that does a lot of auto work himself to see if he could clean them up by media blasting them and maybe powder coat them to match the rest of my flipped rear axle from modyourconnect.

I bought a 2011 transit connect and all electric doors locks where not working correctly. Door agar switch and wouldn’t lock. To replace all door latch assembly’s would have been close to $1500. That was unacceptable. The door agar problem I just jumped the two wires together. Van thinks door shut all the time. Turned out the door locks have a tiny motor inside every door latch assembly. The motor was just used up. I replaced the motor in every door at a cost of $7 each. Problem solved. Even the sliding door I fixed. Much harder to get to motor but doable. Bought motors new off eBay. Hope this helps someone out

From a strictly financial standpoint, you are far better off keeping the Subaru until it is 10+ years old. All the money you don't spend on payments can be used for lots of fun things. I keep all my vehicles for at least 10 years and this has allowed me to accumulate enough money to pay for the next new vehicle with cash. This changes everything including buying my wife a Volvo that cost 2X my TC. So I'm not opposed to luxury or having nice things. But I still love my TC.

But if you NEED a TC because of it's utility or the Subaru is rapidly failing, then you can't go wrong with one priced in the mid 30s. This assumes you pay it off and drive in several years beyond that. Resale value stops becoming a significant issue once a vehicle hits the $10,000 (approx) resale price point. At that point there is not much variation in price and you have extracted the most value out of the vehicle. Resale value only matters for those who are flipping cars in after 3-6 years of ownership or those who overpayed for the flavor of the day.

I owned a 2002 Forester that a sold in 2016 for my TC. I have never missed the Forester....not even the 4WD. But I live where you have to travel to get to the snow.

Finally got around to converting both my front power points to switched using N/O relays. I have learned two lessons:

    1. Don't work on anything plastic when it's 26* out. The shifter surround, which normally just pulls right off, shattered into 3 pieces. Ostensibly they still make them, so maybe it's a $40 mistake rather than an irreparable one. For now it's epoxied.

    2. If anyone ever needs a switched power trigger and is also not a fan (or just out of) scotchloks or fuse taps, a/o 2010 switched power to the rear wipers is the Green/Blue wire at pin 5 in C219, which is the white plug in the driver's kick panel. If you don't have rear wipers, the wire terminates there, and you can depin and use it for whatever. If you are fuse-tapping, it's on 20A fuse# 180, shared with the front wipers.

EDIT: Another 2010 popped up at the super-close, super-busy junkyard on the 17th. Grabbed the shifter surround for $5, plus some other trim I needed. When I have time, gonna make another trip with tools to grab the intact upper B-pillar trim, since mine had the back cut off when the cargo partition was installed.

The parking sensors require a parking assist module (PAM). The module needs to be configured using Forscan or Ford's factory software FRDS. Plus I think the bumper needs to have the painted divots to house the sensors.

I surprised the Titanium trim does not have the sensors. Without sounding condescending...are you sure the sensors are definitely not there? Maybe they turned off from a setting in the speedometer display or SYNC?

I looked inside the original ACM from my 2016 TC. Here are photos of the ICs that that are attached to heat sinks. I don't t know their exact function but they are probably op-amps or other amplifiers for the 4 channel outputs. The ICs are connected to the heat sink by the two black screws. The heat sink paste was is good shape on this ACM. I added some more and re-assembled.

If you need a 4 channel / CD ACM, I'll let you have this one cheap. It works fine and I replaced it with one that had HD radio.

Don Ridley got a reaction from GTVan50 in Adding L-Track in Cargo Van
I love the industrial look and function of the L-track. But I hate removing the front wheel to transport my bikes. This is even worse now that all MTB and road bikes have disc brakes and thru axles. I have a more traditional, and expensive, solution that uses a Thule roof mount sytem with some modification. I bolted the parts to a plate and secured it with rivnuts and thumbwheel bolts. This works well since I mainly use my bikes on local rides and not as part of a camper build. This sytem barely works with my MTB in my SWB Transit Connect. I had to use a foam block to secure the bike via the top tube. Plus the MTB (with wheel attached) barely fits in the shorter wheelbase van.

There is probably a better quick-release solution for securing the plate other than the thumbwheel bolts.

Update: Thanks for all your comments. Once I learned that the Mexican plant plan was canceled and that the TC as we know it was also canceled, as we know it, I jumped on the Internet searching for a '22 TC Titanium.  I found about a dozen, this side of the Rockies. Most had very inflated prices. I finally found one in Orlando that had been ordered, but canceled and I jumped on it. It was still in Spain and it was November 8th before I could get it.  All it took was a flight, two hotels and gas for 735 miles home. So now I'm HAPPY.

You need to troubleshoot the ACM and APIM.. Lots to learn about how they work. You will need Forscan software and an adapter to connect your PC to the vehicle.

Start by researching Forscan on this forum or just go to forscan.org. Forscan may show which module is not working. Then replacement involves buying a junkyard module and loading your configuration using Forscan.

This is all relatively inexpensive but time consuming. A good project to get familiar with the electronics and how to troubleshoot these vehicles.

You will enjoy the relative luxury and security of these vans. The cargo versions upfit nicely but the passenger versions (wagons) have more creature comforts and options.

it is difficult to find a part number for minor bolts. Try taking the photo to a junkyard. Or go to a self service (pull your own parts) junkyard and search TCs and other similar Ford vehicles for a similar bolt.

Yes. If you buy a used APIM from the same model year you won't have to flash new firmware (only advanced users should attempt this). You will have to load the configuration file and this is relatively easy and a commonly used function in Forscan.

You will need to do some homework and Forscan tutorial study, but its not too bad. A used APIM is only around $100.

Get Forscan running and scan for errors to confirm the dealership diagnosis first.

Looks similar, but not the same. Focus rotor hat is shallower. I can't be sure of the differences in the bearings without having them in front of me, but from pictures, the bolt spacing on the 2nd-gen TC looks even wider. Also, according to the parts diagrams, the mounting flange on the 2nd-gen TC appears to be integrated into the rear beam. So, turning the flange into an adapter would mean cutting the beam. My junkyard charges $20 for a knuckle, so buying the 3rd-gen Focus knuckles to cut them up into adapters would be doable. Even if we had more TCs in the yard, if I have to pay for the entire 2nd-gen TC rear end to get the flanges, I would just put that beam under my van and be done with it.
