    Upgrade instrument cluster 2016

Congrats!! It's not a time consuming swap - Most of us do it twice. Once to make sure the used IPC works correctly before you send it off to have the odometer mileage corrected to your TC's actual mileage and then again when you get it back. The install only takes half an hour or so Don

    Upgrade instrument cluster 2016

I ordered this cluster, thanks Don! Now I will have to find time to replace it. I already have the buttons on the steering wheel from a cruise control upgrade
  5. Mid-life update: LPG needs service again. There was some corrosion on a tank pump connector and power issues in the system. Turns out that the LPG tank and its control box is not actually meant to be outside of the body in the middle of mud and dirt. Also - injectors leaking again resulting in long cranking and occasional "fuel rail low pressure" when starting on LPG, need to have them cleaned. No issues on petrol. Summer tires are bald, hit the wear marks and hydroplaned a bit on Tuesday seeing the first serious rainfall while driving this year. Just ordered a new set of Michelin Cross Climates:

    Wheel Size Question

Obviously, you guys don't like stickers either. I want to believe that some of these kids know that stickers, wider wheels & tires, a spoiler........none of those things add horsepower. I think most of them do it because they like the way it looks. I remember when people installed body kits to make their car look lower to the ground. Then every steep driveway and speed bump destroyed the expensive body kit. Same way kids do "home made" lift kits which are just plain stupid & dangerous. Despite what a lot of people think is stupid, dangerous, useless.............there's a huge aftermarket for auto parts which are stupid, dangerous, and useless. Mind boggling. Unless that teenager is an engineer and able to manufacture his own parts - he's buying those parts. And somebody is producing them in volume.

    That is excellent mileage.

    Exhaust Diameter Question

I think it's 2.25". Although I haven't crawled underneath to measure it either.
  9. Yes, they are still available. I also just lowered the price to $350obo

  11. Hey Gang, I've searched here, other forums, facebook groups, parts sites, pretty much everywhere but my own vehicle. I've got the 2.5 Duratec in my '16 LWB cargo, and trying to figure out the diameter of the exhaust pipe. My gut leads me to 2.25". Any help from you all would be great. RallyVan for your time.

    Engine stopping after start up.

An update on this: The air must have worked it's way out of the system as I can now start it with no throttle and it keeps going. Glad I didnt start replacing fuel lines and such like. The air must have got in there when I replaced the fuel filter. Never stop learning eh.

    Fuel Mileage

My 2007 TDCi with the 1753cc engine has proved to be more economical than I expected. Back in March I had a 1800km drive home after some motorcycle racing. Over that distance with the bike in the back and all the riding gear etc I averaged 6 liters/100km which converts to 39 mpg (US). I was taking it easy at 55-60mph as there was no rush and we dont have motorways/interstates here. So very pleased with that figure indeed. I've just put a bottle of fuel system cleaner in the tank in it encase it needs it, hard to know.

    Wheel Size Question

On that note "huge" or super wide tires wont help a car corner faster, in the same way the a solid axle or welded diff wont help it corner faster. LUDICROUS!

    Wheel Size Question

True if anyone thinks a big wing on the back is to help launch a rwd car faster they are very wrong! At the speed when a wing or spoiler is functional the torque available to the wheels is much less because of the higher transmission gear. So it does little for straight line acceleration in a fwd or rwd car and only slows the car down at higher speeds. But do I think having a big wing on the back of a street car is stupid? Yes I think its a waste of time regardless of if its a fwd or rwd car, mostly because it only causes higher fuel consumption and reduces the top speed.

    Wheel Size Question

Fortunately every little FWD Japanese import comes from the factory engineered exactly that way - With both the front *and* rear 'under control.' To think that an 18 year old kid with $100 burning a hole in his pocket is actually improving anything by bolting on a wing or a set of huge rear tires is just . . . . ludicrous! By the time he's 24 or 25 with his own engineering degree, he'll look back at the pictures of his old car and realize just how much he still had to learn Don
  17. I thinking of replacing my stock TC battery with a  Duracell Group 48 (H6) AGM battery to power my 12v compressor fridge and Maxx fan when camping. How long can you run your fridge before you need to run the vehicle to recharge the battery?

    Wheel Size Question

The answer is yes. Regardless of the drive of the wheels, you still need the rear under control. That is handled with tires and aerodynamics. The weight distribution may not be as significant as rwd or even rear engined vehicles like Porsche, but with enough momentum through a turn, that rear can kick out uncontrollably. Professional race teams like the touring classes use modified front wheel drive cars for races. When they dial in the appropriate settings for wheel alignment and aero, they tend to perform better than RWD or even AWD counterparts.
  20. Still have these as of 7/17: 1 pair of amber markers - $12 shipped 1 set of center caps - $12 shipped $20 shipped for all

    Fuel Mileage

Don't trust the onboard system in any car. Real world miles between fillups is the only accurate information. I saw a Dodge Ram reporting 18 MPG, but it really got 12 - 14, like every other 1/2 ton truck. Torque Lite says that My Transit Connect gets 35.

    FORD DPS6 TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS

Sorry. I wasn't clear. My fault. I meant the 6F series. 6F35, 6F50, 6F55. Like what's in the 2nd generation Transit Connect. As I recollect, a lot of complaints about the Ford 4R 4 speed transmissions also. People called those weak. Complaints regarding longevity and service life. Same as you hear now about 6F transmissions. Yet millions of these are in use across the world. Many still running fine I wonder what the transmission failure rate is, and what is acceptable. 1 transmission failure out of 1,000, 10, O00, 100,000? Hondas have notoriously weak automatic transmissions. But they keep selling weak trannies in larger cars with bigger engines. And Ford will even sell a transmission known to be defective. But then again, some companies sell an entire car which they know is defective.

IMO, most 'affordable' aftermarket wheels are probably not as strong as the steel wheels you want to replace, so when it came rime to 'upgrade' the wheels on mine, I looked at alloy wheels which came stock on other Ford vehicles. When I found a set I liked which were of the correct size, width and offset, I started looking for a good used set on eBay. I ended up with a like new set for about $200 USD, which included shipping. They already had the TPMS sensor mounts, so swapping over the sensors from my stock wheels was very easy - Just 1 screw on each sensor. The alloys really improved the look of my TC and since they're OEM Ford wheels, I'm confident they're at least as strong as the steel wheels I replaced Don

    Fuel Mileage

I just bought a 2018 TC Cargo LWB XLT from a dealer in NC. It was their curtesy car. It had 2k miles on it when I bought it a month ago . It now has near 5k from going up and down the east coast from Northern NJ to Western NC. I've never gotten less than 27.2 mpg according to the onboard system. Briefly was up to 27.8 and thought I was going to get that last .2 , but it never happened. The load I had on the way down was considerable on the way back near nothing. Milage was only a fraction different. I've been impressed with the vehicle so far. The noise is pretty high though , so I'm looking to do some sound deadening . Apart from that its still honeymoon time.

Interior panels for 2018 TC LWB

    Check a local salvage yard.
  26. Does anyone know of a source for panels for the interior of the TC LWB. I have a cargo model that I would like to sound proof . The products for the sound proofing adhere to the exterior walls of the van and the ceiling . Does Ford or anyone else sell a set of panels for the interior that use the existing clip and screw holes , or is every option custom ? I just need a set plywood of fiberboard panels to cover the voids in the walls and ceiling . I don't need a full carpet treatment just something to cover the deadening materials. Any leads appreciated. Trying to save time over making patterns and cutting my own out of 1/8" ply wood.
