If that was all highway, you would have less wear.

    Brake wear

When I put in neutral during rolling on the road, TC is going, and going, no any resistance in brakes. Gearbox is manual, and I think that engine braking is to weak when you let go gas pedal. I'v got also Passat 1,9 TDI and brakes are fine, also, no any resistance when it is in neutral, but, when you move foot from gas pedal, the car start to loose speed very quickly. You can almost stop the car completly only with engine, without using foot brake. I think that maybe the problem is in preety heavy TC with combination of week engine braking when you move foot from gas pedal. My friend also have similar TC with heavy load inside, and he also noticed simmiliar thing. Max 20000 km with one pads in front.

    Hello from Florida!

    Congrats on the new toy!
  7. Recently bought a 2013 XL. Been working on it, taking out the shelves, putting in a backup cam. The driver's side slider was chattering instead of locking, so I was working on that for several hours yesterday, all doors open. Finished up, parked it, hit the key fob to lock it and nothing. Truck was dead. Figured the battery was probably tired, and that one more start had killed it. Put it on the charger. This morning the charger says all good, but no response from the truck. No dash lights, no key-in-ignition buzzer, nothing. I jumpered it to the truck next to it, still nothing. I started the other truck, and theTC woke up. Dash, lights, start, run, all good. Drove it to a parts place to load test the battery, and the battery is good. Now what?

    Rallycross a Transit Connect? Yup

Definitely the nicest looking vehicle out there. Of course we might be a little biased.

    Rallycross a Transit Connect? Yup

It would be fun to see a Transit Connect in the Gumball.

    Brake wear

I recall seeing "Electronic Brake Distribution" listed as one of the features of this van. Normally that means that on everyday light brake application, the system will apply the rear brakes first, and the front brakes only on heavier braking. This is done to (somewhat) equalize brake and tire wear between the front and rear axles, instead of the usual case of the fronts doing almost all the work. It's a great side benefit of ABS systems. I would think that any fault that affected the EBD (bad sensor or something) would set an ABS warning light and an error code already, but if you have FORScan it could be worth a look at the brake module to see if there's anything showing.

CARGO FLOOR EXTENSION HATCH PT. 3

This looks awesome. The Gen1 TC has a much smaller footwell but I am going to use this info and make what I can of the space. I was disappointed after all the work to remove the cover over the footwell....is that all? But space is space and tools or even batteries or removable water tanks would fit really well in that space. Thanks for the informative post.

    spark plug suggestions

Same results. No gains in horsepower or mileage. No problems either.
  15. So I signed up for a rallycross event last weekend. I registered Jan Van to compete. Here's an article I put together about the experience. https://oppositelock.kinja.com/in-a-world-of-wrxs-and-miatas-be-a-rallyvan-1834951348 I do a little freelance writing for this forum. I don't get paid or anything, but I love the community on this page. They are mostly supportive, and all share a similar passion for cars and life.

    Hello from Florida!

Since that other one had the 1.6L Ecoboost, it was a SWB instead of LWB - you would have lost roughly a foot in length (I forget the exact amount now). The 1.6L only came in the SWB versions. Good job on the cleanup of your new van! I'm not a carpet fan, but that looks pretty spiffy now, lol.

    Hello from Florida!

That's what I call a modular build where everything can be removed...haha. It works better then building in a full kitchen/bedroom/bathroom with furniture all in a 6X4 space and then wondering why you never use the van.

    Brake wear

I agree you likely have a problem or malfunction. These brakes are already larger than other small vehicles' brakes. An upgrade possibility is to use Focus RS brakes. But this is not a simple bolt-on and may not be possible if TC and Focus brakes are different (plus it's expensive). The Focus forums have info.

You might have the calipers stuck. My fronts are still great at 77,000 km in.

  21. Sure! I apologize for the pic quality. All of my stuff is in storage as I just moved so I had to resort to using my phone to take the pics. The BCM fuse box under the passenger side glove compartment: These apply to 2015 XLT Vans. There might be differences if you have a wagon, a different trim level or a different year.

    Hello from Florida!

I kinda bought this thing with a rough idea in my head that I would convert it to a camper but with no real plan. There are a lot of very nice builds out there but this will be like a 5 year project for me. So it will probably be a cot and some plastic totes for awhile haha.

    Hello from Florida!

Haha, yeah, I think like 98% of the van versions are white. Although, I did find a really nice 2015 XLT Van in Miami that was dark blue and had the 1.6L Ecoboost with about half the miles of this one. The dealer wanted over $16k for it though. Too rich for my blood.

    Hello from Florida!

I bought a 4 pack of Raid bug bombs. I used 3. I probably could of gotten away with just using 2 but I wanted to make damn sure nothing was still moving. Roaches gross me out more than anything. I really wanted to go nuts with soundproofing. I was planning on using Noico 80 mil sheets on the floor, walls and ceiling but I got impatient. Plus it was like my van turned inside out inside my garage: I'm still planning on installing soundproofing down the road. This was just practice taking the interior out haha.
