Backup Camera Recommendations

It looks like there is a WiFi camera that will transmit the image to your phone.  The installation looks simple.  Camera connects to transmitter, which is then connected to reverse lamp wires to power on when you are in reverse.  With phone mounted on dashboard, image will appear on phone screen.

No, still waiting for the OEM-look cameras to pop up in aliexpress, not yet available for the new model. I had the number plate light camera in my Mk1 van. It was nothing special, worked ok.

What is the "OEM-look" that you're looking for?  I noticed that the OEM camera, on both the van & wagon, are not mounted at the center of the vehicle.  I guess it wouldn't matter much.

It looks like this camera would work fairly well alongside the license lamp of the liftgate on the wagon model.  Just mount it to the right of the lamp as the OEM camera is situated.

By the way, Thanks Ford Engineers for making every wire a black wire.

I marked off the positive and negative wires for anyone who might be interested.  Then ran my power lines through the OEM rubber grommet.  Do not be afraid of using plenty of silicone and making a mess to ensure that you've sealed up the cut you made to run the wires.

At the moment, it's triggered by the reverse lamp.  I have tinted windows, so it helps when I turn my head and look over my shoulder.  I suppose that if I wanted, I could wire as many of those little lamps as I want, on any part of the car, and wire them to a toggle switch.  Or I could wire them in tandem with the interior lights ad mount them under the edge of the vehicle, so that the ground around the floor lights up when the doors open.

Knowing how to use the side mirrors is more important.

Absolutely correct.  I still use both side mirrors, and look over my shoulders.  It is a bit of added luxury to be able to see how close I am to the car, wall, or dock behind me.

I installed a similar camera with a screen in the mirror on one of my EV's (the other one came with a factory camera and a dash mounted display) and I've never been happy with the mirror display  -  There's too much glare to see the screen clearly most of the time. Works excellent at night though.  Maybe since you have dark tint it won't be a problem for you, but for me, mine is almost useless in the daylight

I think you're right.  I've got that "limo tint", so there's almost no light coming in.  With the dark tint, and the "settings" at 100% for color, brightness, and contrast, it actually looks pretty good.  The night vision view is awesome.  And it has been great in dimly lit underground parking, since I like to back into spaces.  It's a very inexpensive monitor, so I didn't expect great performance.  I figured that if I didn't like it, I could return it on Amazon.
