Tuning the TC

Recommended Posts

Has anyone chipped their TC yet? Been looking at dropping in one of those G-Force chips to improve performance and MPGs. Apparently Superchips (SCT) and Diablosport don't offer a handheld tuner for the Transit Connect yet.

Do a google search about those G chips... Everything i read looked like they are a fraud. Hundreds of complaints.

I've got a Diablo Predator for my Lightning and I love it. Guess I'll just wait for someone to make a handheld unit for the TC, although I would think that a Focus tuner should be compatible.

Check with FSWerks. He asked once about making tuning available to us on here, and there wasn't really any interest.

There is a member on here who turbocharged their TC.

Look up the posts from "Sunnysmith".

They document his turbo project.

A very nice guy.

He posted some YouTube videos of his turbo Transit Connect in action.

I can program the Transit Connect ECU. I've just wrapped up the second turbo Transit and it worked out quite well.

How about the 2014's ? (2.5 liter Gas)

I came from the Focus ST world and it's cool to see FSWerks in here :)

I wonder.......

I still have a SCT LiveWire unit.  I would only need to have a tune e-mailed to me, and I could load it myself.

How much did Ford "leave on the table" when it comes to the 2.5L gas engine?  What could someone hope to gain?

As with every car, the first attempt at increasing performance comes with cold air and better exhaust flow.  More in, more out.  Since there isn't a drop-in intake, you could probably fabricate your own.  Perhaps disconnect the mass airflow sensor, remove the factory airbox, and disconnect at the hose clamp.  Then get a pvc tube of the same diameter, and adapt the mass airflow sensor.  Now you can get an aftermarket CUSTOM MADE cone filter from aFe that fits over the tube, and attach it with hose clamp.  It all needs to be supported, so a bracket could be fabricated to attach to OEM mounting points for the air box.

Any good muffler shop should be able to cut off the factory exhaust from the catalytic converter on back, and fabricate something with larger diameter pipe plus a small glasspack and either dump it at a 90 degree angle or route it any way you want.

Please excuse my kindergarden drawing.

Just don't end up with your van sounding like an anemic Fast & Furious Honda.

And if you put stickers all over, I will slap you.  Stickers do not increase horsepower.

I have been lobbying Victoria's Secret to pay me for a wrap advertisement.  When they finally come to their senses, I will post pics of my Panty Mobile.
