Hello forum members.  I'm George and I am a 71 y.o musician living in Florida.

I play drums and as I have aged my equipment has been more challenging to cart to gigs....mainly the loading and unloading aspect.  My last vehicle was a Chevy Colorado pickup and the tailgate was at waist height, a difficult lift for my 100 lb. trap case.  Since it still had low enough mileage to get a pretty good trade-in, I shopped specifically for a TC for it's low deck height.  I winded up finding a 2016 low mileage (18K) TC - XLT and could not be happier.  Getting my equipment around is no longer a "chore".

I look forward to exchanging thoughts on modifications, improvements, and aftermarket products.

George - Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new to you TC.

We'd all love to see pics of your new van. Wagon or Cargo model?

There are a few other musicians on this forum. One posted recently but can't remember who it was.

The load height on the TC is great. Also for sitting on the back tailgating or in my case changing into a wetsuit. Sure beats scrambling up on a pick-up tailgate.

Enjoy!

Welcome, like the color.  Totally agree with you on the low load height.  I haul my scooter in the back and it's nice not having to roll it up a steep ramp - or have so far to fall if I mess up!  Looks like your is the wagon version with the seats.  I have the big WeatherTech mat that goes over the top of the seats when they are folded.  Not only does it protect them but does bridge some of the gaps.  I've also taken out the rear seats and it works well that way as well.  Currently I've got one of the rear seats in.

There are some great threads from some very clever  folks on how they have modified their TCs.

Welcome George!

I am also a drummer, on the West Coast however, and bought the TC for the same reasons you did. They are very capable and easy to load vans that hold a lot of gear. Enjoy your ride!

Some friends of mine are touring musicians.  One of them wanted to trade his E-Series van for my Transit Connect.  Only problem is he thinks I am not as smart as him.  Who would want a used Econoline with close to 200,00 miles, for an across the board trade?

I would love an E-series van in case I need to haul something heavy or do a bus driver impression for gags. Once a year or less. My friend had a G-wagen but he sold it. So I have a performance panic now.

Welcome to the forum. I also am a musician: guitarist, singer-song writer.

I got tired of trying to fit all my  gear into my Escort wagon, and purchased a 2012 Transit Connect. It's a shorter wheelbase than the newer ones, but sufficient fory needs at this time.

I like the unique Euro boxy looks.

Yes, but it’s much higher, which is good if you need to move around inside the cabin.
