overheating in stop and go traffic

I sat at the mexican border waiting to cross-the AC got warm, then I looked at the temp guage and it was on H-I got through quickly-fortunately, then sped on the fwy for a few mile when the guage went back to normal-the fluids were fine--any ideas why this happened-I think the electric radiator fan(s) did not work?

sounds like one, or both of your electrical cooling fans aren't operating

at the front?

there is a FAN RESISTOR mounted next to the fans

maybe poor plug connection?, bad resistor?, seized fan?

bat coolent temp sensor? or it's wiring/plug?

Same overheating happened to me several times. I discovered the 50 amp fan fuse in the engine compartment fuse box had blown. It turned out one of the fans was drawing too much current once it had run for a while and was blowing the fuse. Had the dealer replace the fans and resistor assembly and all seems well

Yes-I had the same exact problem--I tried to explain your experiences to the service tech at the dealer--he did not believe me and also said the computer memory did not show overheating--SO-after 4 trips to the dealer-once-"could not duplicate problem"--twice-"replaced fans"--third-"no problem"-and forth"we replaced the fuse-we should have noticed before"--the car is fine

It's too bad they don't like to listen-I am not a slouch mechanically, but I am not a service advisot--still love the car!
