New owner of a 2017 XLT Connect wagon

All,

Bought in January to help haul the grand kids to school.

Likes:  Sync-3 (google maps, SiriusXM, FULL audio library on a USB drive), fold flat seats, double rear doors, Instrument info, Blind Spot, and controllable back cabin air cond.

Misses; Quick defrost windshield has "strong light" artifacts at night. My version of the Daytime Running Lamps  leaves the main headlighst on..  I would have expected a lower power light for daytime.

Issues:  The Sync 3 doesn't always switch to night mode...  The indicators in the instrument cluster (parking lamp indicator and 'shadow van" shows head and tail lights)  suggest it is in night mode but the sync 3 stays in blue on white background and not the white on black background.  Again, it works about 65% of the time but not always..  I can turn the headlight switch from auto -> full headlight -> auto and it switched the sync 3 into night mode..  Thoughts??

No idea about the sync issue (mine's the base model radio with USB and Bluetooth).

You mean your low beam stays on at full power on DRL? Weird, mine's running high beams at half the power.

You'll get used to the wires in the windshield. I've had this feature since my '96 Escort, then 2006 TC and now 2012 and 2016 ones.

I have a love/hate relationship with the windshield "quick clear" defroster. It works great to de-fog or defrost the windshield. But the wires do defract light at night.

My 2016 factory daytime running lights (DRL) operate at a reduced voltage/power. It is curios that this would have changed in 2017. It can be tricky checking the DRL intensity because of the autolamp feature (eg looking at the projection onto your garae door).

Welcome to the forum.

Thanks All for the replies..

DRL..  I will check intensity..  I "don't think" it is reduced but that is an easy check.. Also... yes.. the standard low beams are used for DRL.  There is a second small bulb that also lights up.  I would have thought that this would be the only bulb on for DRL..

Quick defrost windshield..  I hope you are right that I will get used to it..

Sync 3...  Stopped by the local dealer..  The service scheduler guessed that it may be a software/firmware glitch..  This is my bet as well since the auto headlamps work as advertised and the wagon likely only has one dusk sensor.

Thanks again.... Dogbert

The small W5W type bulb is an European parking marker (permanently on together with other lights), just like the 5 watt amber wire in your turn signal which blinks at 21W. They didn't want to redesign the cluster for US version, I guess.
