OLDSCHOOLFOOL got a reaction from mrtn in Help - ABS / Hill Start Assist
Changed the sensor and everything appears to be back to normal. Pretty much the easiest fix ever except that the sensor let go suddenly and I punched myself in the eye. The ABS light did not go off immediately as I would have expected but after about a few hundred feet all the lights went off. I guess it needed a signal to reset.
Thanks @donridley for all your input.

OLDSCHOOLFOOL reacted to jrm223 in Insulating rear doors?
I insulated my solid (windowless) rear barn doors with Roxul rockwool on the bottom half of the doors, and the little wiring cavity that's about halfway up the wall behind the plastic panels, too. One of these days, I might get around to insulating more of my van using Rmax foam panels for the larger areas.

OLDSCHOOLFOOL got a reaction from joyous in turn off or shorten duration lights are on
Reading this thread is not very encouraging. I just know if I go back to the dealership they're going to piss me off......and then I'll get arrested.........then the wife will be mad and probably beat me....then I might be divorced......I just don't see how it can turn out very well. It shouldn't take a software engineer to turn off lights.
Who the heck ever thought this feature was a GOOD thing anyway?

OLDSCHOOLFOOL got a reaction from i86hotdogs in MK2 With Sparco Terra Wheels
I've seen ads for these wheels and never really thought they looked that great. However, seeing them them on your van, they look good! ?

OLDSCHOOLFOOL reacted to i86hotdogs in MK2 With Sparco Terra Wheels
I've been eyeing these wheels ever since I got the van. I was never in a place to drop the cash for them, though. I found them on sale through Tire Rack for $120/wheel. They originally run for $160/wheel. I finally pulled the trigger, and have zero regrets. Bolt pattern, diameter, and width all are matching to OEM (OEM steel wheels per say). The only difference was the offset. Factory offset is +52mm; and these have an offset of +40mm. This just means the wheels stick out 12mm further than factory (about .5 inch). Personally, I think they look awesome on the winter/race tires I mounted them on. Tires are Sumitomo Ice Edge 215/60r 16.

OLDSCHOOLFOOL got a reaction from JamesRich in Shelter In Place
I've been pretty much holed up since the first of March with only a couple trips to the grocery store. Lucky enough to live in a county where they have shut down access to all but residents. We are not on official lockdown. Can't figure out why people are complaining about this "social distancing" thing. Hell, I've been practicing social distancing most of my adult life, with people in general not being my favorite species of animal.
I do miss the toilet paper though.....?

OLDSCHOOLFOOL got a reaction from jrm223 in Modify or Replace Driver's Seat?
Perhaps you should have gone 80-85 mph so the momentum would have gotten you the last 2 blocks. ?

OLDSCHOOLFOOL reacted to sKiZo in What wheels fit 2010-2013 TransitC USA
2017 Focus is a 55mm offset.
2010 TC is 53mm offset.
Center bore is 63.4 for both.
Eh ... close enuf, eh.

. . . . . assuming the offset of both wheels is close to the same

This is one of the best mods so far. Very creative.

OLDSCHOOLFOOL got a reaction from TC in NC in Wheel Size Question
275/45R16 on the back and 225/55R16 on the front. There is nothing remotely practical about this setup, but these things ride like silk and stick to the road like glue. Heavy rain....maybe not so much. They look really good on the Outback too.

OLDSCHOOLFOOL reacted to WillMartin in Isn't this the cutest van
There are a lot of things I would do if I had way more money than I could possibly know what to do with. And too much free time. One would be to take my Gen1 TC and put a V8 motor in the back with a 6 speed transaxle. It would take some engineering and a whole lot of fabrication, but it would be quite the sleeper. It would have to have bigger than stock wheels and tires to avoid lunching them, but it sure would be fun. It will never happen.

OLDSCHOOLFOOL reacted to Slamsit in 2010 XLT Slammed
I am staying with the white scheme. Doing a Balloon White satin dip. On the fence for the lower trim and wheel arches. Either keep them black or do everything in white.

So it’s ready to get picked up. She’s a beaut. I will soon get it painted and I think I am going to keep the lower trims black.
I will post some vids of the exhaust starting up next weekend.

I agree with you , nothing intuitive there, commiting it to memory is the only way The real solution is a large button Saying Trac Off!

OLDSCHOOLFOOL got a reaction from Ralph Gould in Locating a Race Red Titanium....
I find two XLT passenger wagons at Battlefield Ford in Manassas, Va. Race Red. Have no Idea where you are and don't know what you consider "loaded".
Ford is going to limit your search so they can keep the stealership in control. I suspect the salesman did not divulge the location of that "one Race Red Titanium". Decide how far you want to travel, be patient and search within that area.

OLDSCHOOLFOOL reacted to jrm223 in Disable auto door locking?
Here's the same procedure that I used - note that each seat needs to be done individually, if you wish to have the passenger seat disabled, too. I did the full procedure start-to-finish separately for each seat - come to think of it, I did them several months apart after I had a buddy riding with me a few times in a short time span and the incessant dinging was getting annoying, lol. I've also used the procedure on my old 2011 Ranger back when I had it, so it seems to be pretty universal across models the past decade or so.

Are you sure its the Inflatable Lumbar support and not How great you were in 1986 ?
The lift on mine operates normally both up and down, it does not feel like air but I never looked at it now I willl

Yup. Another pic.
Yall are gettin tires of em I know. This is the latest front end pic I’ve got. I’m actually going to see it this weekend. Real pics will drop along with a sound clip. We are finalizing the front lip installation.

OLDSCHOOLFOOL reacted to sKiZo in driver seat air bag leaks
I read "driver's side airbag" and thought ... WTF ... I didn't think you had to blow those up ... just hit something? <G>
That said, I think I've heard everything now. Never imagined a factory inflatable seat that used an air pump. Sounds like something you'd find in a clown car - does the pump make farting noises too?

OLDSCHOOLFOOL reacted to Fifty150 in CD player removal
I think you're referring to the dash kit for installing an aftermarket radio. Sure, I guess you could put in a box instead of a radio. But as yet, nobody manufactures or sells a radio delete kit.
-
OLDSCHOOLFOOL reacted to Fifty150 in CD player removal
I guess you will have to fabricate that yourself. I haven't seen a radio delete kit with a dashboard cubby hole.
