  1. I know this post is a year old, but I have a somewhat related noise coming from the dash area. Its a creaking sound that happens when I'm turning or going over uneven pavement. It seems like its coming from the firewall just under the top of the dash, which is next to impossible to reach. Also is there supposed to be some kind of retainer that holds the bottom of the felt cover that goes under the dash by the pedals. I have a dealer installed alarm and the cover just sort of pushes up over some screws and flops around, unlike the passenger side that is tightly restrained by clips.
  2. Thanks a lot. It seems my doors align a bit differently or something because the tab part of the weatherstripping on mine touches the skid plate when the door closes.
  3. I was in an accident and both rear door skins had to be replaced. The bumper wasn't replaced but the top skid trim was replaced as well as all the weatherstripping. It was replaced with factory parts, but the top and bottom corners of the left door don't seem "right' in the way they fit in reference to the little tabs and how the right door closes on them. I'm not sure they glued them on right. Could somebody post pics showing the detail of the upper and lower corners with the left door open and closed? I know its sounds a bit OCD, but everything was perfect before the idiot hit me, I just want to make sure it still is now.
  4. I finally located the cargo net that is listed as an accessory on the Ford website, and not only is it not an envelope style, but just a net, but I also can see no way of attaching it if it was an envelope style. $40 for a useless floor net seems a bit steep. I could have just got one from J.C.Whitney if I wanted that.
  5. I've had my Transit Connect about two months now and after taking in on vacation to Seattle, it's developed a creaking/squeaking sound in the sliding doors. I've traced the problem to the black plastic guides that locate the door when its closed. I've sprayed silicone spray, Armor All, and finally white lithium spray grease and the things still squeak when the body flexes over uneven pavement. Any solutions?
  6. After monkeying with the latch a bit I reached the conclusion to go to the dealer today. First he wanted me to leave it all day on a Saturday, so I told him I've already took off a day to have the alarm activated, which they forgot to do when I bought it. He then had the service tech look at the window and bang on it a few times and he said he really didnt hear a big difference. I told them it rattles on every bump, rough patch and truck passing me, so he said they'd order the part, even though they don't just order parts without seeing that's the problem. Trust me, its the problem. The latch is just too loose and the pieces of plastic rattle together like the plastic theyre made of. Its a pretty big piece of glass to just be held onto the vehicle with two plastic hinges and a cheap latch. Maybe not the best design.
  7. Other than the window its a pretty solid vehicle. Yes, it looks like it will be a trip or three to the dealer and let them pay for it, and hopefully the new latch is tight and rattle free.
  8. I got my TC two weeks ago and it's been so hot here I've had the AC on the whole time. This week cooled off a bit and I opened the rear windows and tracked down an annoying rattle to the drivers side latch. The screws seemed tight enough but the play in the latch pivot points is what's causing it to rattle. Its a roll pin pressed into the plastic hinge. The passenger side doesn't rattle and is also not loose. I wonder what the odds are of getting another latch and having it also rattle?
