  1. This is probably a dumb question, but in the storage pockets in the doors, toward the front of the vehicle, there is a squarish U-shaped bracket. I can't figure out what this is for. Can anyone fill me in? Thanks. Eric
  2. Roland, Terrific! Exactly what I needed. Thanks a bunch. Eric
  3. My TC finally arrived. My insurance company (Progressive) sent me a device called a Snapshot which plugs into the computer port behind the dash. The device collects data and transmits it to Progressive. I can view the data online--pretty cool (we have one in another vehicle). After collecting data on my driving for six months I could be elligible for additional discounts on my insurance. In the TC this port is to the left of the steering wheel near the door, and behind a small panel that pulls off. When I plug the Snapshot device into the port the panel won't go back into place. The Snapshot is only about two inches long but will be in the way of the panel cover. I don't want to drive around for six months with the panel cover off, plus the Snapshot device could easily get bumped and damaged getting in and out of the vehicle. I thought about relocating the port but getting to it will require opening up the dash more than just the small panel cover, but I don't want to damage anything trying to get it open. I found an access hole on the end of the dash against the door, but it isn't enough to reach the port. Does anyone have any tips on opening up that part of the dash to the left of the steering wheel? Thanks very much. Eric
  4. Bob, Very interesting pictures, thanks for posting them. My transit connect is due to arrive any day now. I hope to borrow some of your very neat ideas. Of course I'll give you credit. :-) Eric
  5. Bobs, I just have to ask. How did you carry the two sheets of plywood? That's been a topic of conversation here before. I don't know if anyone has found a good, easy way to do this. Thanks. Eric p.s. If you ever get around to taking pictures of all your mods they would be great to see.
  6. <<legend: green - veritcally stored 4x8 between front seats red - 4x8 stored over head purple - 4x10 aluminum curled downward, stored over head blue - tilted 4x8 (terrible option) >> You and I think alike. I ruled out the TC because a 4x8 sheet wouldn't fit inside, but I kept thinking about it and considered some of these same options that you did. I went to a dealer and took measurements and this is what I concluded. green: might fit, but it would sit on the center console, which might get damaged. It would also block the driver from seeing anything on the right side of the vehicle. red and blue: the vehicle is something like 43 in. wide at the level above the seats, so not wide enough for that arrangement. I also considered hauling a 4x8 sheet on edge, diagonally across the bed, with one end in the driver side rear corner and the other end behind the passenger seat. I measured that distance with the passenger seat moved all the way forward. It didn't look like it would quite fit but someone on this forum said he's hauled like that before. I did like you and kept thinking about it. I finally decided that my best bet would be the roof rack. So I went ahead and ordered a TC. I'm still waiting on it.
  7. Davy, Here is one site: http://www.inlad.com/fordtransitconnectladderracks.aspx A google search for "Ford transit connect roof rack" yields lots of other websites as well. Good luck. Eric
